Are you planning on going through CNA training so that you can start a good career in the medical field? Then, you first need to know the different responsibilities of a certified nursing assistant or CNA so that you can have an idea of the challenges that you're going to face on a regular basis when you start working as a health care professional.

CNA training involves not only teaching various health care procedures to students but as well as the different guidelines that they need to be aware of when they're taking care of people. CNA can be acquired in several places such as in Red Cross. Red Cross CNA training involves pretty much the same things that are thought in different nursing schools and organizations. In their most basic form, CNA responsibilities involve offering nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or senior nurse. In other words, these responsibilities involve assisting patients perform activities of daily living or ADLs and meeting their various needs. Let's try breaking these responsibilities into different classifications. First among these classifications would be patient care. This is no doubt the most important responsibility of a certified nursing assistant. This basically refers to properly taking care of patients. Under this classification of responsibilities, certified nursing assistants have to assist patients with feeding, and dressing up. In addition, CNAs also need to do bed making and replace bed pans on a regular basis as well as perform different tasks that need to be done in order to keep the room of their patients neat and clean.

The next group of responsibilities that nursing assistants need to handle would be transporting patients. Patients need to be transported by nursing assistants because of certain illnesses that hinder them from moving independently from one place to another. Transporting patients starts from transferring patients from their beds to their wheelchairs and bringing them to their destinations such as in laboratories whenever doctors order tests to be performed on them.

Another important responsibility of certified nursing assistants would be the personal hygiene of their patients. Since most of patients in hospitals are nearly or totally depended on health care providers, they need to be bathed and groomed by nursing assistants on a daily basis so as to prevent infections from developing especially when they just went through surgery. Personal hygiene responsibilities include bathing, brushing the patient's hair, nail trimming, shaving, and others.
