In this article I am going to be blunt, honest and to-the-point.
I’m doing so because if you’re anything like me, an article without substance goes in one ear and straight out the other. You deserve the truth whether it hurts or not. The back button is at the top of your browser and if you are someone who is likely to be offended then I recommend that you use it.
Don't say I didn't warn you...
I think it’s safe for me to assume, seeing as you have arrived at this page that you are not happy with your weight, am I right? It’s also safe for me to assume that you want to do something about it. Right? Well then, like all good stories we need to start at the beginning...
Ask yourself, “How did I get this way?” was there a trigger or event that caused you to start putting on the weight you now want to get rid of? Perhaps a breakup, a death in the family or job loss? Maybe you were overweight as a child? Whatever it is, you need to identify it and come to terms with it.
The past is exactly that, it has happened, there is nothing you can do about it! But you can change the future. You have the power to change everything in your life from this very moment on.
Accept this simple truth and you can begin to move on in your life.
When building a skyscraper, you need to build solid foundations or it will eventually fall over right? It is no different losing weight. If you do not start for the right reason and have a concrete plan then you're doomed to fail. To quote Winston Churchill:
"He who fails to plan is planning to fail"
If you are not 110% positively committed and completely determined to lose weight then there is no point even trying. Only by saying “I will not be a prisoner in my own body!” will you have any chance of escaping.
If you really want to lose that weight you will do whatever it takes.
You will exercise whenever you have the time, hell, you’ll eat kidney beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a year and drink nothing but water if that’s what it takes. It is this attitude that separates the great from the ordinary, the highly successful from those keeping their heads above water and ultimately, the happy from the sad. If you’re not prepared to go this far then you have to face the simple but harsh truth:
You probably don’t want it that bad.
I cannot stress how important it is to just commit. Stop dipping your toes and just dive in head-first! Make a promise to yourself that you are going to see this thing through. Accept that it’s not going to be an easy ride and you may even stumble along the way but it’s sure as hell going to be worth it and you are going to come out stronger and fitter than ever before!
