The Sweatshirt - Warm, Cozy, Snuggly And Cheap!

By | Jul 10, 2010 | 2 Comments | Rating: 0

There once was a time when sweatshirts were worn for their functionality only. Back in the 1930's, the Champion company first started to produce sweatshirts to keep people warm. They were meant to be worn by warehouse workers, who were spending many hours per day working in very cold warehouses. The Champion company was kind enough to provide them with sweatshirts that had thick fabric and also a hood. A hood can really come in handy when you are working in a cold environment. After all, if your body is warm but your head is still cold, then what's the point?

A few decades later, in the second half of the previous century, sweatshirts started to take on a life of their own. Sports playing people started wearing them all of a sudden. Professional athletes even started wearing them. But also people from the hip hop culture couldn't manage to keep their hands of the hoodie sweatshirt. Now it's a couple of decades later and sweatshirts have practically taken over the whole world. Everybody is wearing them now. So what has made sweatshirts so immensely popular in these past few years? I think I have the answer!

When looking at sweatshirts such as the Champion Men's Double Dry Classic Pullover Hoodie Sweatshirt, it's easy to see why people might want to wear these. This is a great example of a shirt that costs almost nothing, yet provides its wearer with plenty of warmth and comfort. With other sweatshirts like the Russell Men's Dri Power Zip Fleece Hoodie Sweatshirt, it's the same story all over again: a durable piece of clothing that provides you with lots of protection from the cold at a very reasonably price. Indeed, the prices you have to pay for sweatshirts these days have really taken a dive. Only a few years ago, these kinds of shirts were much more expensive.

When the recession hit, people were looking to get more bang for their buck. Sweatshirts were an obvious answer, because they offer durability and warmth at a good price. So that's why the sweatshirt has become so incredibly popular. There was a vast market demand, followed by a vast market supply. This unforgiving competition has driven prices to all time lows. The prices for sweatshirts have bottomed out at about ten bucks a pop, but only because the price for a piece of clothing can't possibly go any lower than that!
