There are many plants and animals today that are becoming endangered and their population is decreasing rapidly. Here is the top 10 endangered species in the world and the reason why they are rapidly disappearing.

  1. The Black Rhino : Located in the Eastern and Southern parts of Africa. The population of the black rhino has decreased up to 85% since the 1970's. They have been killed for their horns, as there is a big market for rhino horns in many countries. There has been a ban put in place to prevent this from happening, although poachers still find a way to kill the black rhino race.

  2. The Giant Panda : Located in China, it is said that there is only around 1000 giant panda's left in the world. Poaching and loss of their natural settings is the reason why they are becoming an endangered species. There are many charity organisations such as WWF, who are trying to stop the giant panda from being extinct.

  3. The Tiger : Typically located in South East Asia, the tiger is slowly disappearing in large numbers. It is due to poachers, as many parts of the tiger are used in Chinese medicine. The skin of the tiger is also the reason why they are killed.

  4. Mako Shark : The mako shark is decreasing rapidly due to being killed for its meat and also fins. This species of shark is one of the fastest and can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
