The Top 10 Songs of Florence + The Machine

By Edited Jul 15, 2016 0 0

Florence + The Machine is an English indie band consisting of lead singer, Florence Welch. With their heart pounding drums and dark poetic lyrics it's impossible not to like Florence & The Machine. Here is a list of my personal Top 10 songs from Florence + The Machine's two albums, Lungs and Ceremonials.

10. Drumming Song

A fantastic song from the first album, Lungs that sounds as if it was recorded in a kitchen. Not much else I have to say about this one, but it's a great song.

9.  No Light, No Light

Regardless of the controversy of No Light, No Light and its video, this song is very deep and meaningful and one of my favorites of the album Ceremonials.

8. My Boy Builds Coffins

A haunting piece from the album Lungs. The song was written about a boyfriend of Welch's who actually built coffins. This is perhaps one of the more unnoticed songs of Lungs, but one of my favorites.

7. Spectrum

Another incredible song from Florence & The Machine's album Ceremonials. The song has a haunting aspect to it that's found in many of Florence & The Machine's songs, and it weaves together beautifully with the intriguing lyrics.

6.  Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

It took a few listens for me to really get into this one, but it soon turned into one of my favorites. There's so many things this song could be about, it's really up to you as to how you interpret it.

5. Only If For a Night

My second favorite of the album Ceremonials. I interpret the song as Florence Welch singing about a loved one of her's that died. She hears the voice of her loved one "as clear as day"  and continues to sing about her experience. It's both beautiful and haunting.

4. Shake It Out

My favorite of Ceremonials, and probably the most popular from the album. The meaning of this song has been debated and it can be interpreted differently by so many it's impossible to tell what it's really about. Regardless it has incredible lyrics with a melody to match. A true masterpiece.

3. Dog Days Are Over

Perhaps the most popular song by Florence & The Machine ever. This smash hit launched their career and it's easy to see why it became so popular. The pounding drums, forceful lyrics, and the powerful voice of Florence Welch were the perfect ingredients to this wonderful concoction.

2. Cosmic Love

This song has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. This song is purely beautiful and will have you hooked. A fantastic example of Florence & The Machine at their best. "I'm always in this twilight in the shadow of your heart"

1. Blinding

My personal favorite song from my favorite band, Florence + The Machine. Although most will disagree with this being the best song from Florence & The Machine, I couldn't put it anywhere less than number 1. The lyrics are incredible and the haunting chorus repeated itself in my head for weeks. The song made me feel alive and awakened me into a whole new world. One of my favorite songs of all time and I'm still obsessed with it.
