Women's History Month is A March Affair

Every March is a month long celebration that pays tribute to the important women who have changed our lives.  These women have struggled and perservered through unsurmountable obstacles, and achieve great things against all odds.  They have made many contributions that have changed our lives and our world.  Let's take this month to learn about and remember these great women.

                     March is Designated as Women's History Month                             

An event  that occured in 1979 in Sonoma California was the first celebration that recogonized women for their contributions to society.  This event was the precusor for the now ever growing celebration known as Women's History Month.  Learn about these women and find out how they have changed your life and mine.  Read about their plight.

                March 8th is International Women's Day

The women of the 19th century began an International Women's Day in honor of those women that changed the plight for all women with voting rights, better working conditions, better pay, and educational inequalities of the times.  March 8th is dedicated to the celebration of these women and to honor emerging female leaders of our time.  Learn more about this event and how you can become involved.

Susan B. Anthony Celebration - Her Movement for Womens Rights :

We all remember the Susan B. Anthony dollar and some of us may even have a collection of them, but how much do you know about this woman and what she did for all women.  Read about her life and contribution to all women and you will gain an even greater appreciation for her cause.

A Celebration of Women - Hedy Lamarr:

One of the most beautiful women in Hollywood who played in countless movies over a span of almost 60 years can be attributed to this women.  That within itself was a major accomplishment of her times, but what does she have to do with the military and the modern day cellphone?

Women in History - Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley:

This woman went from being a slave to spending four years in the White House.  Not only that, but she also organized the Contraband Relief Association and the National Home for Destitute Colored Women and Children.

Girls in History - The Story of Belle Boyd:

Another fascinating example of the power of a determined women in the face of adversity.  This teenager was a brave and beautiful spy during the Civil War.  See how she got the Southern Cross of Honor.

Heroine - Sarah Rosetta Wakeman:

This is the story of a woman who was determined to be more than just a housekeeper and recieve low wages.  Learn how she disguised her gender and fought alongside her male counterparts in the Civil War.
