There will be many amazing phones from HTC in 2012. Although not many of them have been announced yet, we can look at the leaked information and expectations to get a pretty good impression about what will be the best new HTC phones for 2012.
Generally in 2012, handsets are expected to get faster, packing quad-core processors and several gigabytes of RAM. There will also be the addition of NFC (near field communications) technology which will add a whole new dimension to the interactivity offered by your smart phone. HTC will launch phones based both on the Android and Windows Phone 7 platform.
The combination of HTC and Beats Audio should also be something to look out for. Beats Audio offers a high-quality audio experience which should allow HTC to compete with the offerings from the likes of Apple and Samsung on both the Android and Windows platforms, and to create some great new phones in 2012. Many of the high end phones will be available on HTC pay monthly contracts with a purchase price, and the lower end phones available free on contract.
This currently unannounced handset is expected to come with a 4.7 inch display, an eight megapixel rear camera and a two megapixel front cameras, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1 GB of RAM and a quad core processor. It will also pack new features from HTC such as HTC watch, read and play. This will be one of the best new HTC phones for 2012.
The HTC Edge will be a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy note which has a slightly bigger 5 inch screen. However the 1.5 GHz quad core processor and slightly smaller screen may prove an advantage as the Galaxy note may be too large for some. The HTC edge is rumoured for release in the second quarter of 2012.
The HTC Wildfire is the introductory Android phone from HTC. The original and its revised versions have continually been a good seller for those after an inexpensive smartphone. It is very compact and so it's market will continue to exist in 2012. It is unlikely that a new HTC wildfire would come with a quad core processor, as its main competitors are from companies such as ZTE who offer a low-cost Android experience.
In my opinion a new version would include a higher speed single core processor, a dramatic increase in RAM and improved multimedia capabilities such as high-definition video recording and better camera. The launch of the HTC Explorer, which seems to be a wildfire in a thick protective rubberised skin, may indicate that HTC wants to move their small phone offerings to a younger market. This would make sense as the availability of older higher end smart phones such as the Desire, are approaching the same price.
The specifications of the new HTC Zeta have been leaked online. The HTC Zeta will come with Android 4.0, a 4.3 inch 720p display and an incredible 2.5 GHz quad core CPU. It will come with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, so will be one of the most advanced Android handsets available on the market and a contender for the crown of best HTC phone in 2012. As long as it is real (and not pure rumour), it should be announced in Q1/Q2 of 2012. It will be an expensive phone, and likely to be a HTC pay monthly item rather than one you purchase sim free.
