Nokia is one of the oldest mobile phone companies out there. It was once the dominant mobile phone manufacturer in the world, before the era of the smart phone. Nokia will launch new phones and in this article we hope to look at the best new Nokia phones for 2012.
General upgrades and technology will lead to faster processors, high-resolution screens, more RAM, improved multimedia and better battery life. However whether Nokia decides to implement such improvements in technology is unknown. Compared to the likes of HTC and Apple, Nokia hasn't fared as well in producing high-quality smart phones, will 2012 be an improvement for new Nokia phones?
Nokia will release 12 Windows phone 7 devices in 2012 with some featuring dual core processors. They decided in 2011 that they would replace Symbian, it in-house OS, with Windows phone software. The Nokia W8 is expected to be the flagship handset the Nokia in 2012 with a dual core processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 12 megapixel camera. This phone is expected to be released in Q2 2012.
The Nokia X2-02 was announced in December but is not a smart phone by any means. It's display will only be 2.2 inches with a 240 x 320 pixels. This phone will be for people who do not need or want a smart phone. It will however pack and microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB and a battery offering up to 10 hours of talk time with a standby time of 450 hours. It will be very inexpensive and probably best suited for those of those with parents or grandparents who simply need a phone to call and text people.
Nokia Lumia 710
The Nokia Lumia 710 will have a 3.7 inch, 480 x 800 pixel display with Nokia ClearBlack technology. It will be made of Corning Gorilla Glass which will offer very strong durability. It doesn't have a card slot but will have 8 GB of storage and 512 MB of RAM. In terms of connectivity it offers HSDPA, N-Wifi and Bluetooth v2.1. The camera is five megapixel with autofocus and LED flash, and the camcorder offers 720 p recording at 30 frames per second. Other interesting features include active noise cancellation and a 1.4 GHz CPU. This will be an interesting phone and one of the best new Nokia phones for 2012. It may only be available on T-Mobile, although that may change from country to country.
One of the most interesting things about the Nokia Lumia is that it offers Windows phone 7.5 (codenamed Mango) as its operating system. This is a major software update for Windows Phone Seven. This operating system includes features such as twitter and LinkedIn integration, built-in voice to text and text avoids functionality allowing for hands-free texting and a revamped marketplace user interface. It will also offer improvements in battery technology, improvements to the Bing search and more complex security systems, making it one the best new Nokia phones for 2012.
Nokia Asha 201
The Nokia Asha 201 is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2012 and is similar to the X2-02 as it is targeting the low-cost market. It has a 2.4 inch display but offers a BlackBerry like QWERTY keyboard. This will make it perfect for those who like to do a lot of texting and e-mailing. I think this phone will be popular with children as it is less expensive than a BlackBerry but offers much of the functionality. It is also focused on multimedia as it can play music for 52 hours and has a standby time of up to almost 900 hours making it one of the more interesting new Nokia phones for 2012.
