School is about to start and summer is winding down. But something few people realize is that now is the perfect time to plan a vacation for Fall Break or for Christmas break! Or perhaps now is even a good time to plan for next summer's vacation and to begin saving for it! If you are thinking about vacations, then you should consider Florida. Florida is a great state is the southeastern most part of the United States. It has a very warm, humid climate, but if you go to the right places or come at the right time, you can catch a good breeze, which makes the weather very enjoyable. There are many places to go and see in Florida, but if you want to hit the highlights, then you need to visit Tampa, Orlanda, and the Keys! This article will give you some ideas of what you can do at each.
Tampa is located in the western part of the state, about halfway down. When visiting Tampa, there are a number of different things you can do. If you have some kids and teens who are interested in amusement parks, then check out Busch Gardens. You can ride rides, see shows, find entertainment, and even visit the Zoo! They currently have a deal where you can buy two nights, and get one free! If you enjoy art, then check out the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art near Sarasota Bay. It's a great place for the whole family, as there is stuff for the kids to do, as well. You can even buy food there! Finally, a great family option is Museum of Science and Industry. I remember going there as a kid and I really enjoyed the place. There are a lot of exhibits, especially hands on. Also, you can watch movies in the IMAX Dome Theatre! They show various different movies, not just science ones. (I remember watching "Happy Feet".)
Orlando is a very popular family destination in Florida. When we think Orlando, we think of Disney World. Disney is a great attraction for the family. You can choose to stay there, or you can find other accommodations locally. Disney offers rides, shows, food... just about anything you need to make a great vacation. While n Orlanda, don't forget to check out Universal Studios! Sea World is another great stop. I always pictured Sea World as an aquarium, but it has become so much more than that! You can ride thrilling rides, swim with animals, watch shows, and do so much more! If you are interested in science and technology and/or space travel, then visit the Kennedy Space Station. You can take tours of the location, and if you come at the right time, you can even watch a rocket launch. Also, visit Everglades National Park. Ride an airboat through the Everglades and see animals on the small islands!
There is more than one key in Florida. Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine, Lower Key, and Key West. On Key Largo, you can go to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and play with the dolphins, go on a glassbottom boat, and more! Islamorada is known as the fishing capital of the world! So if you are into fishing, then visit. If you are looking for some beautiful beaches to just relax and enjoy the pretty water, then you need to visit the Marathon Key! An interesting place to visit in the Lower Key is the Bat Tower. This tower was originally built in order to control the mosquito population, and while it didn't really work then, the tower still sticks around. Mainly it's just something to see, and something people just visit and write their name on.
So with these ideas in mind, start making a list of places you want to go and things you would like to see. Look online to find some discounts for attractions and museums you want to visit!
