Things To Do In Scottsdale, Arizona

By Edited Jan 3, 2016 0 0

Whether you're looking for a great place to go shopping, golfing, hiking, or just lay out at a nice pool, Scottsdale, Arizona has it all. Here's a list of five great things Scottsdale has to offer while you're on vacation.

1. Scottsdale Fashion Square

If you love to shop as much as I do, Scottsdale Fashion Square is a must. This mall offers upscale, luxury shops with almost every store imaginable, restaurants, and even a theater. It is the largest shopping mall in the Southwest and in the top 30 largest malls in the country. This mall is huge with 2 million square feet. The list is endless of the stores at this mall but just a few include: Macys, Nordstrom, 7 for all Mankind, Abercrombie & Fitch, Armani Exchange, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Gap, Barneys, BCBG, Burberry, Charlotte Russe, Coach, Forever 21, Gucci, H&M, Hollister, J. Crew, Lucky Brand, M.A.C. Cosmetics, Pacsun, Prada, Sephora, Steve Madden, Sur La Table, Talbots, The Limited, True Religion, Vans, Victoria's Secret, White House Black Market, Zara and Zumiez. This is a small list in comparison with the actual amount of stores here, but you get the idea. You will not be disappointed with the endless shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square.

2. Old Town
There is something for everybody in Old Town. Old Town is located on Main Street in South Scottsdale. This historic downtown area has everything from bars, shops, restaurants, museums, art galleries, plenty of night life, and even a trolley. There are tons of western and Indian finds here. There is also an art walk every Thursday evening here. Also, if you're looking for a great local farmer's market to go to, this is the one. Come here every Saturday from 8-1 to find a wide range of organic produce, bread, meat, mushrooms, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, corn, breakfast burritos, homemade pastries, biscuits and gravy, pasta, flowers, and much more. Not only is this market family friendly but it is also welcome to pets, EBT/Snap benefits friendly, and offers tons of samples of delicious food!
3. Golf Courses

Scottsdale and it's surrounding area is home to more than 200 golf courses which is what makes this city known for being a golfer’s paradise. If you want to take advantage of the more desert courses in Arizon, try TPC Scottsdale, Troon North, Grayhawk and We-Ko-Pa. Some other courses you may try that may be more traditional would be ones like Talking Stick, McCormick Ranch, Camelback and Gainey Ranch. Many of these golf courses have stood out on lists like Best Places to Play featured in Golf Digest. One such golf course was the ASU Karsten Golf Course with an above average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Many of these golf courses also offer exceptional golf training like the Kierland Golf Club which offers professional golf instruction and a golf training fitness program called FORE-MAX. At Kierland Golf Club you will also enjoy a variety of luxuries including climate-controlled golf carts and covered driving ranges. With 200 golf courses to choose from, there's something for everybody.

Enjoy the Sun!

For anyone who's been experiencing the severe winter and snow on the East side the past few months, or those of you who just love the sun and warm weather and barely get it three months a year, you could definitely use a vacation in the warm sun in Scottsdale! Arizona is your best bet of getting sun from morning until night along with some nice hot weather to lay out and get a tan in! Scottsdale has plenty of places for you to lay out whether it be the pool at your hotel, at one of the many lakes nearby, or just on the outside patio of a café or bar drinking a nice cold beverage! It just doesn't get much better than that! And you will get sun no matter what time of year you come here seen as Scottsdale has an average of at least 325 days of sun a year!

Scottsdale Stadium

If you're a fan of baseball or the Giants, Scottsdale is the place to be. Scottsdale is home to the San Francisco Giants during spring training. You can enjoy the game and the sun by sitting in the grass in the outfield or find shade under many trees in the afternoon heat. Parking is easy to find and this stadium is located close to many restaurants and bars within walking distance. You may also get lucky and stay in the same hotel as some of the Giants who are training. That was the case with me and my husband when we stayed at an average hotel in Tempe. We met a few of the Giants while we were just laying out by the pool. They were all very friendly but one in particular was extremely nice and talked to us for quite a while, even suggesting things we might do on our trip.

With so many things to do for people of all ages and with sun all year round, Scottsdale is the perfect place to come to relax, tan, and have fun!
