Beautiful sunrise in the gorgeous state of Wisconsin.

The summer months are the best months to be in Oshkosh because of the things that take place in the area.  They offer fishing tournaments, festivals, fairs and more.  Sawdust days is a popular festival that takes place in Oshkosh where they bring back the settlers to do reenactments on one side of the fair and on the other they offer carnival games, rides, food and more.  It is a great place to go for the whole family.

Many people spend a lot of their time on Lake Winnebago.  Kite surfing, jet skiing, tubing, skiing, wakeboarding and swimming are just a few of the things that people like to do on the lake in Oshkosh.  There are also sail boating lessons that are offered for those interested.

There is also a great park for kids in the area that is right on the lake.  The park is called "Menominee Park".  It is a favorite of all the kids because the playground is very large and resembles a castle with many things to do.  There is also a carousel, train ride and another amusement ride that spins.  You can rent paddle boats and paddle the pond at the park as well.  Menominee Park is so great because it also has a zoo to offer.  It is isn't a big zoo, but it is still fun for the kids and even adults to enjoy.  Check out the monkeys, wolves, bobcat and elk in the zoo.  You can even feed the goats and pet the sheep as well.

Oshkosh, Wisconsin is also home to one of the biggest fly-ins in the entire world; EAA.  People travel from all over the world to see the airplanes and airshows.  There have been many famous actors and actresses that have been spotted at this event.  EAA is usually during the month of July for a full week.  The dates vary depending on the year.  If you have never been to this even, it is definitely one worth checking out.  Even if you enjoy airplanes just a bit, you will have a lot of fun here.  There are many activities going on in the itinerary depending on the day and the activity you enjoy doing.

EAA Airventure of Oshkosh, WI is a great time for the entire family.

The Paine Art Center is another thing you can check out year round in Oshkosh.  During the summer months the gardens are open and with admission you can walk around and view the gardens and the carriage house.  Inside the Paine Art Center, which used to be the mansion of Thomas Paine, you can view each room and how it is set up.  The theme of the art center changes every three months.  During the winter months they have a Nutcracker theme which is absolutely gorgeous.  There is no better way to bring in the Holiday spirit than with The Paine Art Center lit up with nutcrackers.

The number of restaurants in the area is phenomenal.  If you are hungry, Oshkosh has the food for you.  One of the more popular restaurants in the area is "Manila Resto", which is robata, sushi and Filipino.  They have some of the best edamame as well.  The all you can eat edamame for $5 is lightly salted with sea salt and is incredibly fresh.  Stick around for late night music as there is normally a jazz band that plays in the evening hours.

You don't see too many record stores in the area anymore.  Exclusive Company is a store that specializes in both new and old vinyl.  They also have DVDs, CDs, stereo equipment, posters, band t-shirts and more.  This is a very unique shop that has gifts you may not be able to find elsewhere.

A popular sport during the winter months is ice fishing and snowmobiling. If you are from the south, you may not have much experience with these types of hobbies.  The polar plunge also takes place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin during the month of September.  If you have never heard of the polar plunge, it is an event that takes place in the middle of Lake Winnebago in the middle of winter.  Temperatures can be in the negatives and people will jump into a large opening of water in the lake.  It is very cold, but the experience to say that you did it is incredible.  There are also hot tubs available if you need to warm up.

There are so many things to do in Oshkosh, Wisconsin no matter what time of the year it is.  If you have never visited the area, it is definitely a place worth stopping.  The beauty and nature of the area while taking advantage of the city life is spectacular.
