Places to visit in Grapevine Texas

If you are looking for places in Grapevine Texas to visit I have a list of some of the top places to visit.  I have lived near Grapevine for 30 years and have visited just about every place in the city.

Hotel attractions

Grapevine is known for two major Hotels.  The Gaylord Texan and The Great Wolf Lodge.  Both of these hotels are located off of Business 114.  This highway is also known as Highway 26 and Northwest Highway.

The Gaylord Texan has an artificial river walk inside and a roof that has artificial stars and the moon..  The Gaylord Texan has many shops and restaurants inside.  Outside they have a water park for the kids.  A night club called the Glass Cactus is very popular with live bands attending quite often.  There is a view from the balcony onto Lake Grapevine.

The Great Wolf Lodge is almost across the street from the Gaylord Texan.  The Great Wolf Lodge has an indoor water park that is open year around.  The kids can play an interactive game call Magiquest where they purchase a wand which activates question throughout the hotel.  They can even battle a dragon.  You can also purchase an addition game that goes with Magiquest it is called compass quest.  The Great wolf Lodge has so many different things to do you and your kids will never be bored.

Less than a mile from these two hotels is the Grapevine Mills Mall.  This mall has many stores, a movie theater, an aquarium, lego land, food court, a ice skating rink and the Rain Forest Café.

The Sealife Aquarium is one of the newest additions to the Mall.  The Sealife Aquarium has a special area where they breed sea horses.  Many species of fish are on display.  There is a tunnel where you can walk under water and see sharks and other fish around you.  There is also a see thru floor where you can walk over the sharks.  The Sealife Aquarium has a touch tank at the end where you and the kids can touch certain species of aquatic animals.  The kids can also enjoy a playhouse at the end.

Another new attraction inside Grapevine Mills mall is Lego Land.  Lego Land is located across from the Sealife Aquarium.  Inside Lego Land you can ride on rides, build lego toys, interact in lego adventures and have parties.  In Duplo’s village you can build mega Lego houses with large lego bricks.  There is plenty of fun for the whole family.

Outside Grapevine Mills is the AMC 30 theater.  This theater offers normal movie viewing as well as movie and dining in some theaters.  The seats are comfortable and the food is great.  Be prepared to buy tickets early because the tickets for dinner theater rooms sell out a head of time.

The Polar Ice House is an indoor ice skating rink.  Polar Ice House offers ice skating, ice hockey, lessons and parties.  The facility is open to the public 6 days a week and for any level of skill from beginners to experts.

The Rain Forest Café is always one of the big attractions for kids.  While eating diner the animals stationed around every table come alive.  Lions roar, monkeys scream, giant butterflies flip their wings and jaguars move there tails.  The volcano cake is a favorite among many of the guest.

If the outdoors is more your style, you can drive down to the lake and do a lot of water activities.  Fishing is very popular on the lake.  Bass up to 10 pounds have been caught.  Catfish over 40 pounds have been caught from the lake as well.  Sandbass are always a popular fish, with schools of these fishing hitting lures around Sandbass Point and the dam.  Fishing guides are available as well as a huge party boat that you can rent for the day.

Main Street in Grapevine is always popular.  Many special events happen on Main Street.  There are a lot fo old tyme store, restaurants, wineries and specialty shops.  There is a train station where special events occur often.  In April of 2012 Thomas and Friends came into town.  Santa also came to visit on the polar express in December.  One of my favorite places on Main Street is the glass blowing shop called Vetro Glass Blowing.  Vetro Glass Blowing allows you to watch its employee make glass items.

Grapevine also offers a decent botanical garden that is free.  It is not huge and you can see the entire thing in 30 minutes.  The flowers are pretty and best of all it is free.  The botanical gardens is a few blocks past Main Street.

Another thing to do in Grapevine Texas is Bass proshops.  Bass Proshops is located off of highway 26 almost across the street the from Grapevine Mills Mall.  Bass Proshops has a whole bunch of fishing, hunt and camping gear.  They sell boats, clothing and food as well.
