Things to do in Greenville South Carolina

Greenville, SC is exploding onto the scene among up and coming cities in America. It was recently ranked by Forbes as the #2 best city for jobs (2013), by CNN Money as a 10 Fastest Growing City in the US (2012), and a top 18 Coolest Town in America by Men's Journal (2011). All of the recent attention is for good cause. Below is a list of the top things to do in and around Greenville, South Carolina. 

1. Falls Park on the Reedy River

Recently named as a top park in the US, Falls Park has been the centerpiece of a revitalized downtown. Falls Park intertwines itself in downtown Greenville with significant green space, the famous Liberty Bridge, and, of course, the waterfall. 

2. The Peace Center

The cultural center of Greenville is right downtown at the Peace Center, which has regular musicals and other events. It's best to grab a nice dinner at nearby (walkable) Larsons or Lazy Goat. 

3. Exercise on the Swamp Rabbit Trail

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a multi-use greenway system that connects parks with downtown Greenville, and provides place for exercise for the healthy Greenville community. Bikes are available for rental downtown. 

4. Dining Downtown Greenville

There are endless options for fine cuisine in downtown. Some of the local favorites include: Rick Erwins, Soby's, Lazy Goat, Larsons, and High Cotton. 

5. Fluor Field at the West End

Catch a ballgame at Fluor Field, which is a replica of the Fenway in Boston. 

6. Ceasars Head State Park

Located approximately 45 minutes from Greenville, Ceasars Head provides endless breathtaking views with over 34 miles of hiking trails. 

7. Greenville Zoo is a great stop for kids

The Greenville Zoo, located in Cleveland Park and along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, is a great stop for the whole family.  

8. Breweries are a great stop for adults

Greenville is among the up and coming scenes for craft breweries. Among the breweries are Quest (free tours every Saturday afternoon among other events), Brewery 85, and Thomas Creek Brewery.  

9. Fall for Greenville 

 Fall for Greenville is a three day festival where Greenville blocks off the downtown streets to show of the sights and sounds. Fall for Greenville attracts thousands of visitors each year. 

10. Downtown Alive 

 Downtown Alive is a weekly music series in NOMA park from March to August for outdoor music and good times on Thursday afternoons.
