By Edited Jan 28, 2014 2 0

Now that the summer heat is ebbing away we find ourselves in the perfect season for family fun; Autumn! With that in mind I present to you an article designed to let you know all about some of the most fun things to do in the Valley of the Sun during this beautiful Fall season. The greater Phoenix area is the fifth biggest metropolitan area in the U.S. so there is no shortage of events and exploring, but I’ll be touching on some of the more reasonably priced places that guarantee a good time.

I’ll start off with one of the top rated haunted houses in the U.S.: The 13th Floor. Have you ever asked yourself why so many people forgo the option of a 13th floor in their buildings? The 13th Floor haunted house may have the answers you seek. This place promises the scare of a lifetime and a night you won’t forget, all for an affordable entry price! Not only does the price of your ticket get you entry into The 13th Floor, it also allows you into another terrifying haunted house; ZOMBIELAND.

Up for a ride in the sky? You can enjoy a breathtaking view from the skies over Arizona during a wonderful hot air balloon ride. View the Grand Canyon State with a bird’s eye perspective with any of the multiple customer oriented hot air balloon companies. From up there you’ll be able to see the entire Valley of the Sun and the surrounding monster mountains. It’s enough to change your view on life!

The Phoenix Zoo is a great time for anyone! Whether it’s just you and your partner or if you’re looking for a day of fun with the family, this destination will make for a great day for everyone. From feeding giraffes to letting the little ones play at the Yakulla caverns over to the Monkey Forest even to petting stingrays, it’ll be a great time that you and your family won’t soon forget.

The State Fair

The AZ state fair is happening now! Stop by for an awesome day for the whole family including rides, shows and cotton candy! See the Native Spirit Dancers representing daily in their artful dance, swing by the Life in the Ice Age exhibition for a chilling look at the past, head over to the Star Trek exhibit to see one of the largest collections of authentic Star Trek artifacts out there. For something a little more fast paced, step over the edge of the 55 foot zip line for a thrilling ride to the bottom. This is just a few of the many events and things to do at the AZ state fair this year.

Main Street in Scottsdale is home to quite a few art galleries that house the art of more than a thousand artists. If you’re up for an artsy afternoon peering into the deep, then this is the place to go. From abstract to realism you can’t go wrong here. Or head over to Mesa to the Arizona Museum of Natural History where you can enjoy Dinosaur Hall or a Walk Through Time. Entry at the museum is very affordable and is definitely worth it if you are looking for a historical day in the Paleozoic era.

If you're hitting the city tonight, check out these fine establishments. Dancing? Scottsdale’s Axis Radius Dance Club puts it all on the table when it comes to a great night of energy and dance. Club Volume boasts a nice place in Downtown Phoenix and calls itself downtown’s premier nightclub. Or maybe you’re up for an all out battle of the greats! Check out The Big Bang in Tempe to be witness to a duel of the pianists! This bar is full of fun and great piano playing. But, for a little quieter and maybe more romantic night on the town with your love, the 98 South Wine Bar & Kitchen allows for a great night with rotating art exhibits and live music and a tasty glass of wine. The Kai Restaurant has a brilliant tribal and regional menu, offering sublime dishes such as lobster fry bread and grilled buffalo tenderloin.

Now that I’ve rattled off some of the best places to check out in the Valley of the Sun this Fall season, I hope that you find some of these suggestions as fun and worthwhile as they truly are.
