Timneh African Grey Pasta Recipe

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

The Timneh African Grey is a sub-species of the African Grey. They are smaller and from my experience much less neurotic than the Congo sub-species. It's really easy to make delicious and nutritious food for your Timneh African Grey. I had a hard time getting my parrot to eat any green vegetables for the longest time. Now that I make all of his food from scratch, he eats all of his veggies and even asks for more! Timneh African Greys can be prone to being deficient in calcium so it was imperative that I figured out a way to get him to eat lots of leafy greens.

After having green veggies literally thrown at me for the last time, I decided to get a little

more creative and decided to start making homemade food for him. It's much easier and I think much healthier than any pellet diet. My Timneh African Grey gets tons of veggies every day and loves them. It has literally sliced my Timneh African grey food bill into a quarter of the cost I previously spent. I now spend less than ten dollars a month buying Timneh African grey food. Honestly, Leo, my Timneh African grey loves this food more than anything I've ever purchased from the store for him.

Here's how you can make your very own Timneh African Grey Food

Buy a frozen bag of mixed veggies

          Buy frozen spinach

          1 can of pinto beans

          1/2 bag of macaroni

          Garlic powder

          Olive oil

          A little salt

          Red pepper flakes

Boil some water in a large pot. Add all of the frozen veggies and pasta. Cook for however long the bag of pasta says to. Strain in a colander. Add a little olive oil, garlic powder, and salt just for flavor. Excessive salt is not good for Timneh African Grey Parrots so use sparingly. Add your red pepper and then serve. I make huge batches and then freeze. I put enough for a couple days into each bag. Probably about 1 cup of food into each bag. Your Timneh African Grey will love this recipe and might really help you get some veggies into him or her. This recipe is really flexible and you can add anything else your Timneh African Grey loves. I sometimes add kidney beans, rice, garbanzos, and nuts. He really enjoys vegetables now and is much healthier.
