Tinted lip balm is now becoming a favorite because of the sheer color and moisturizing effects it offers our lovable lips. Lipsticks can sometimes feel heavy and have an opaque appearance, which can be quite discomforting at times. With these sheer wonders you never get that heavy feeling and you have sheer color that lasts just as long, if not longer.

Lip balms are tinted correspondingly to their flavors. For example, strawberry lip balms are tinted in pink and cherry flavored ones are in bright red. The tint of lip balms is extremely light and makes your lips appear more natural. Other lip balms have a little shining effect which does away with the need for using lip gloss.

Tinted lip balms contain an assortment of ingredients that nourish. These ingredients include jojoba oil, vitamin E, almond oil and other forms of nutrients. Those with an SPF of 15 will provide you with protection against the sun's harmful rays, which are one of the main causes of chapped lips. Not only do the best tinted lip balms moisten your lips, they also leave them feeling soft and supple for a long period of time.

Tinted Lip Balms don't last as long as lipstick, but they go on lighter and usually give a more natural looking appearance. The wide array of shades and colors allow many women to wear them on top of a matte lipstick as well, to give the color a little additional shine.

They taste good too, with flavors ranging from grape, sour apple, blue berry, lemonade, tints from sheer bronze to purple passion, and even lavender. The options are almost endless when it comes to tinted lip balms. But with the right equipment and a little bit of creativity, you too can make your very own lip balm right in the comfort of your own home.

Make Your Own Tinted Lip Balm

Tinted lip balms can be made easily at home. The recipe for creating tinted lip balm is the same as its ordinary counterpart. You just simply need to add your preferred coloring agent so it can achieve its desired tint. You can even use your old makeup products or you can make one right out of good old, natural ingredients.

To create tinted lip balm from your makeup products, gather all of your eye shadows, lipsticks and old blushes. Select your desired color from the eye shadow or the old powdered blush and mix it well with a little amount of petroleum based products (Chap stick or Vaseline works well) in a container. If you are going to use some lipstick, then break off a just little piece from it and then crush it so that it mixes well with the petroleum jelly based product. By doing it this way you can make a lighter variation of your favorite lipstick.

Another method you can use to create tinted lip balm is the mixing together of natural ingredients. Heat an even amount of honey and almond oil and place them all in a microwave safe bowl. Take some cranberries and then crush them so you can let their juices come out. Add the pulp of the cranberries to the mixture of almond oil and honey, and reheat the ingredients in the bowl. Add only a small quantity juice from beetroots to the mixture so that the tint of the lip balm can be enriched. Afterwards you should strain the mixture and add just a tiny amount of cherry powder to enhance the flavor. Then pour the mixed ingredients into the small lip balm containers, store in a refrigerator, and allow them to cool. This sort of tinted lip balm is perfect for young girls who wish to change the color of their lips.

Selecting the Right One

Choosing the right tinted lip balm for you can be a little tough because of all the varieties. So how will you that you've chosen the right one? Simple, choose according to your preferences. If you're going to get just one, then select the one that's slightly darker than your own lip color to get a natural makeup look. Now, if you love the just bitten look select a deep berry tone. Once you apply it you'll find that it looks like an enhanced natural color. That's because these little babies go on sheer. What if you need a little boost to your look? That might be the time to go with a brighter pink so you can glisten. This works especially well if you want to set off your tan.

Whichever one you decide upon there's one thing for sure, once you experience the sensational color of a tinted lip balm on your lips, you'll never let it go. It's trendy, stylish, and even fun. It's simply a fashionable passion!
