Step 2 Next you need to see if the slow cooker or crockpot is safe with the use of the special slow cooker bags. The majority of the machines are however, there are a few cheaper brands that are not. Your reason for using a bag in the slow cooker or crockpot? No clean up! You just open the bag, pull out the food and toss the bag with no mess to even consider.
Step 3 Is the pot removable for from the heating instruments. This is an important consideration for a bigger crockpot or slow cooker as you need to clean this machine and serve the food. It is so much easier if you can pull it out of the heating element (safer too.)
Step 4 What type of programming are you looking to have on your crockpot or slow cooker. Traditional units have three levels of heat: low, medium and high. These are now some of the simpler features on the crockpots which include programming start times, temperature gauges and other nifty features.
Step 5 Consider where you will buy your crock pot or slow cooker. These units are available at local department stores and drug stores for the lowest prices. However you might find additional model choices by checking kitchen stores and stores online.
