Tips For Choosing Bamboo Table Lamps

By | Sep 16, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0
A bamboo table lamp is a great way to brighten up any living space. Making a decision to make your own or purchase one already made is a personal one. This short guide should help in making that decision.

When going out to buy your own table lamp in lieu of making your own, you will need to consider a number of different factors. These kinds of bamboo table lamps can sometimes be misleading in appearance and if your not careful, you can easily end up with something less than satisfying.

First, always consider what kind of lighting you are trying to get from your bamboo table lamp. What pieces in your room are you trying to accentuate? Are you simply trying to find a good lamp for your evening reading? Finding something that goes with not only the other lighting in the room, but also with the height of your ceiling as it is in ratio to your floor can make or break the ambience in your room.

One of the more versatile functions of the bamboo table lamp is the fact that the flexible designs can adhere with several different types of decor in a room. Your choice can be purely aesthetic with little to no regard with the actual lighting.

If you want to express your more creative side, then you should consider making a traditional Chinese lantern. The frames are usually made of bamboo if these lamps stay in the Chinese tradition of lampmaking, where these silks and papers are tightly fitted over them. The process to actually make one in your own home is simple and doesn't take too much time, work or money.

For a bamboo table lamp, you will more than likely need to use some form of heating to get the wood pliable enough to bend into concentric circles. There will need to be several of these hoop-like shapes and they will all need to be about the same size. You can also achieve the same effect with other kinds of wood or wire. Make the ends cohesive by using materials such as tape or glue.

Making the "body" of the lamp is just as simple as you would vertically apply your bamboo to the hoops. It should stand erect when you are finished with this step. After you have completed the skeleton of the bamboo lamp, you can then cover it with your external material. You can also use glue or tape to keep this material on the frame from the inside. Don't box-off the top or bottom of the lamp, these two ends will need to be open.
These are two simple and pleasing ways to obtain a bamboo floor lamp or a bamboo table lamp that will accentuate any home.
