Have you ever tried to clean your jewelry before? Things like rings are not that difficult to clean but other items like earrings, necklaces and watches are far more difficult. This is why I wanted to spend a bit of time showing you a few tips that I use to clean jewelry with ease.
Most people think they have to take their jewelry into the jewelers to get them cleaned, if you have free cleanings, then this is what I would recommend though. The best part about going directly to the jeweler is that they can replace or fix something if they were to damage your jewelry during the cleaning process. Just keep in mind that this rarely ever happens but if it did, then you would be covered.
Now, lets get to the tips that will help you clean your jewelry with ease.
Tips On Cleaning Jewelry With Ease
Let Jewelry Soak –Did you know that letting your jewelry soak in water is a great way to get any dirt and grime to loosen its hold on the piece? My advice is to let it soak for around 1 hour and then come back and see where it is at. Right after you are done doing this you need to dry the jewelry off so that it doesn’t look tarnished.
Use Mild Laundry Soap – Something else you can do if the dirt and grime are still on your jewelry is to use mild soap in the water. This works great by itself but it will be better if you can softly scrub the piece of jewelry with a brush. One piece of advice is to brush in circular motions just in case there are noticeable lines from the brush.
Place In Freezing Water – This is a trick that most people don’t know, however, it does work. The reason putting your jewelry in freezing water works is because the cold freezes the dirt and particles off the piece which makes it easier to clean. A lot of people say you can place jewelry in the freezer but the problem with this is that some people forget about it and others place watches which never works out very well.
The three tips above should be enough to get any piece of jewelry as clean as humanly possible. A lot of people think that jewelry is tough to clean but if you know the right way to go about doing it, then the cleaning process is fairly easy. Just remember that if you don’t feel comfortable cleaning your own jewelry, then you can always have a professional do it for you.
