Tips for Buying Gender Neutral Baby Clothes

By Edited May 1, 2016 0 0

Buying gender neutral baby clothes is a lot easier than you might think. If you aren't interested in finding out the gender of your baby before birth, then buying gender neutral baby clothes is the way to go. Once you are ready to start purchasing clothes for your new baby, check out stores like The Children's Place and JCPenney. Here are some tips for buying gender neutral baby clothes:

Stick to the Essentials

The golden rule for buying gender neutral baby clothes is to stick to the essentials. Basically, only purchase clothing that you know your baby will need for the first couple of weeks of his or her life. That means you should only purchase t-shirts, baby jumpers, onesies, hats and robes to begin with. Whether your baby is a boy or a girl, he or she will only need those types of clothing for awhile. Once you have had your baby, you can head out to the stores to pick up gender specific baby clothes, such as dresses for girls and sports t-shirts for boys.

Go for Animal Prints

Clothing that features animals looks great on both boy and girl babies. Animals that are typically found on clothing for babies include cows, cats, dogs and giraffes. The great thing about animal clothing is that it is available in a wide variety of designs, colors and styles. You can also purchase clothing that has funny sayings on it when you are buying gender neutral baby clothes. For example, you could pick up a t-shirt for your baby that says something like "My Mom is a Fox." That type of clothing is funny and is appropriate for both boy and girl babies. You can start purchasing clothing that has princesses or baseballs on it once you know the gender of your baby. Clothing that has stripes, letters or shapes on it is another great option for gender neutral baby clothes.

Choose Neutral Colors

You should only purchase neutral colored clothing when you are buying gender neutral baby clothes. As tempting as it is to purchase clothing that is pink or baby blue, you'll need to resist that urge until you know the gender of your baby. You'll be buying clothing for your new child for many years to come, which means you'll have plenty of time to purchase cute gender specific clothing in the future. Neutral colors that are perfect for both boy and girl babies include yellow, white, green, black and red. Many stores that sell baby clothing these days even have gender neutral sections for parents that aren't interested in finding out the gender of their baby.
