Tips for Your Next Camping Trip

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

Going camping with your friends or family can be a wonderful adventure. Chances are you know the basics that you need take with you - tents, food, water, fire starting equipment and cooking utensils. But what about other things that might make your camping experience a little more enjoyable? In this article, I will give you some tips on what you should take beyond your basic list. At the end of the article, you will be able to take these tips and implement them on your next camping trip.

A bucket. Sounds boring, but a bucket can be handy for a number of reasons. It can be used to ferry water to the campsite or used as a potty for small children. You can also use it to store or carry small items that tend to be lost when you're in the outdoors.

Sheets. A set of sheets can serve a number of functions. At the very basic, you can use it as a sleeping bag liner to keep your sleeping equipment clean. They are great for privacy or for some extra shade - just use some cord to string them up outside the front of your tent, end to end. You can also be used as an extra storage bag. Just wrap up what you want to store and tie the sheet off at the top.

Kerosene and sand. This is something that you may not have heard of before. You can mix kerosene and sand together (50/50) in an empty soda can with the top cut off. Put a lit match inside the sand and you will have instant lightening for your camp.

Cooking grill. Don't underestimate the importance of having a decent grill with you. If you are at a campsite with electricity you can take with you one of the many outdoor electric grills that are available. Alternatively, there are quality outdoor gas grills that you can buy that don't require electricity to work.

Soda Water. A half bottle of soda water can be placed outside your tent and help keep the insects away. They'll be more interested in the soda water than you and will tend to leave you in peace.

Plastic sheets. Often you will need to sit on wet ground and a plastic sheet can help you stay dry. They can also be used as emergency ponchos - just cut a hole in the sheet and poke your head through.

These are just some quick tips that can help make your camping trip just a little easier.
