Creating so many new ways for us to be scammed or fleeced of our hard earned dollars. It is so hard to know who you can trust. You don't. That is why security is of vital importance when using the internet.
Internet Connection
Before you can send any emails you will of course need a good computer, and internet provider. Then you can join any of the following companies and start sending emails.
There are more and more ways of sending emails now, some of these email providers are:
-
Yahoo
-
gmail
-
hotmail
-
outlook express
Access online only
Yahoo, gmail, and hotmail can only be accessed while online. The advantages of these is that you can access there emails from different countries or wherever you are without losing any information. It is held there until you delete it.
Access offline
With outlook express you can actually read your emails while offline. You can also write emails offline then when you go online they will be sent out. Which is a great advantage if you have limited downloads.
The disadvantage of this is that if you are traveling some of the internet providers will not allow you to access this from different areas.
Use caution sending and receiving emails
Sending emails to friends and strangers alike is a danger every time you click that send button. Some advantages and disadvantages of emails.
Never open emails from people you do not know.
Replying to emails
Press reply- now highlight and delete all addresses and details of message in bottom of new email page. You will be surprised how many times you have clicked reply back and forth, sending the same information of several emails in the bottom of each email. By deleting this it reduces you're up loads and download going back and forth and reduces the risk of sending other peoples addresses to others. This is important if you have a limited amount with your internet connection, even more so with images.
Forwarding emails
Press the forward button; now delete all forwarded address from the top or bottom of the message. It frustrates me when I see twenty or thirty email addresses on a forwarded email to me. A hacker could use those emails to send virus's to unsuspecting people.
Internet connection-limited amount of download. Ask your friends to discontinue sending all those lovely jokes, as you only have a small download limit. Otherwise some connections charge exorbitant prices for extra.
Keep the Inbox empty
Shift emails that you need to keep into folders and leave your inbox empty. I came across a lady who used to send emails. On looking for a reason why her computer was working so slow I found fifteen hundred emails in her inbox. And she never cleaned her computer out with excess rubbish from the recycle bin.
