Tips on Tiki Bar Decor

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Tiki bars are one of the most popular novelty items to have in your home. Whether in your living or in your backyard, a tiki bar will serve as a great conversation piece and a place where you can always sit back and relax and enjoy a few drinks of your friends. Tiki bars provide you with that laid back tropical island ambiance without you having to go on any expensive vacations.

There are tons of tiki bar options out there. You can buy a small, pre-made tiki bar or have one built in your home. But in either case, the best part about owning a tiki bar is making it your own unique creation. This can be accomplished with tiki bar decorations, which you can mix and match to come up with a look that is entirely your own.

Originally, tiki bars were based on the native huts that can be found on the islands of the tropics and the Caribbean. Tiki bars can be small and discrete or they can be very large and elaborate, resort-like affairs, such as the ones more often built for backyard use. Either way, maintaining and decorating your tiki bar can be a blast. Owners often make tiki bar care a sort of hobby by being always on the lookout for decorative items that will add to the look and feel of the bar.

Some of the items that are must-haves when it comes to tiki bar décor include tiki masks, moai statues (the ones based on the giant, monolithic stone faces found on Easter Island), tiki mugs, tiki torches, totem poles and bamboo furniture. You can find a lot of these items on sale from companies that specialize in tiki culture, but you can also get a lot of great deals on authentic and unique items by going to garage and estate sales as well as thrift shops and antique stores.

Remember also that some of the best tiki decorations are the ones you make yourself. Take that old broken surf-board, for example, and turn it into a cool sing to hang up as a backdrop on your tiki bar. The possibilities for bamboo tiki bar décor are endless.
