Tips to Keeping Your Wedding Costs Under Control

By Edited Feb 3, 2016 0 0

A wedding is an expensive event. You probably have already realized and accepted this fact. While there are a lot of expenses that go into a great wedding ceremony, the wedding of your dreams does not have to be excessively expensive. These tips will help you keep your costs down without sacrificing the beauty and atmosphere of your ceremony.

One of the best ways to save money on your wedding is to have it in the "off" season. Since most people get married between the months of May and October, having a wedding in one of the other months means you might be able to get a discount on your favorite venue. Your flowers, limo, and other expenses may also be cheaper, because there will not be as many other brides competing for the same services on the same day. Of course you will be able to save money if you choose not to have a limo.

When it comes to venues, shop around. You may find that there is a tremendous difference in the cost of the places where you could get married. Unless you have your heart set on a particular place, this is one way you can save money. Keep in mind that your church or your parent's church may offer a discounted fee to members, so do not discount this as an option for your venue.

Do not be afraid to look on the sale rack for your wedding dress. Some eveningwear stores even have beautiful gowns that could easily double as a wedding dress. Just because a dress was last year's style does not mean it is outdated. You can save thousands by not buying the newest fashion when it comes to your gown. You want to look beautiful, but remember that you will only wear this dress for one day. Although you want something nice it may not be worth spending thousands of dollars on your dress the big picture.

Decorate sensibly. Focusing your decorating budget on the items people will spend the most time looking at makes the most sense. For instance, you can scrimp when it comes to decorating the pews at the church, but make sure your table centerpieces look nice, as your guests will be looking at them for a long time. A very nice elegant center peace can be vases, flowers or fish in a bowl. One of the cheapest decorations also makes a great impact. Use lots of tulle and white lights to decorate your reception hall and ceremony venue they are cheap and bring elegance to your wedding.

Keeping your wedding affordable is all about making sensible choices. We would all love to have an extravagant wedding with all of the "bells and whistles" that Hollywood stars often spring for, but the truth is that the wedding is just one day out of your entire marriage. Make it memorable, but do not break the bank for extravagance. Use that money on a romantic honeymoon instead!
