Tips to Prevent and Eliminate Mosquitoes

For most people who get bitten by mosquitoes, it grows into a small red bump and it itches. For those individuals, you can count yourself lucky as there are worse things that can happen with a mosquito bites.

For some people, they develop hives and on the rare severe allergic reactions, people do die from anaphylaxis.

Even with all these serious consequences, there are even more threats to humans from the mosquitoes. Due to the blood sucking nature of mosquitoes, some diseases are very susceptible to being passed between humans and even cross species from humans to animals and vice versa. Some mosquito borne diseases include malaria, dengue, yellow fever, eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), St. Louis encephalitis (SLE), West Nile virus and others.

Due to all these issues, humans should take the necessary precautions when outdoors. Some of these tips include keeping away from stagnant waters and swamps which are breeding places for mosquitoes. Also, many mosquito species are most active at sunset so you might wish to avoid being out at this time if you have no mosquito control repellent on.

However, people naturally enjoy being outdoors for the fresh air or to travel to be introduced to new things and cultures.

For those who like to sit in their backyard patio at night, there are mosquito eliminator devices that you can purchase that can draw the pesky insect in and vacuum them all together. Once such device is called the Blue Rhino SkeeterVac.

For those who have happy feet and enjoy traveling, it is best to consult with your country's disease control and prevention center and see if they have any travel warnings of mosquito borne disease outbreaks. With this information, you should visit with your doctor for any shots or pills you might need to take prior to the trip.

Mosquitoes might seem like a pesky insect for most people but for some individuals, their bites can be deadly. The mosquito is responsible for one million deaths worldwide each year so humans should definitely be on guard of mosquito bites.
