A picture perfect smile is often marred by stained teeth. Often people are embarrassed to smile in public even if they have a perfect set of teeth , because they are stained and yellow from either too much coffee, chewing tobacco or smoking cigarettes.

According to dentists food habits and some beverages like coffee could be one major factor for stained teeth. But there is no need to worry anymore. The cosmetic industry is always there to help and have flooded the market with tooth whitening gel and toothpastes.

Most of the tooth whitening gel is made by using hydrogen peroxide or Carbamide peroxide. The latter is in fact considered more stable. One should have two trays made for using the gel Generally it is advisable get rubber trays made by your dentist to fit the mouth exactly. When filled in the hollows of the tray and applied to the tooth, the peroxide in the gel reduces into oxygen molecules which breaks into the pores and works to clean stubborn stains. Stains generally lessen the light from entering the teeth but with clean teeth more light can get in to give that dazzling smile. Most of the tooth whitening gel can be purchased over the counter and there is no need to pay exorbitant fee to the dentist. All the same the tray must be ordered from your dentist to ensure it fits on the lower and upper mouth exactly. Care must be taken while using tooth whitening gel. Patients with teeth sensitivity and other dental problems must not use tooth whitening gel without consulting the dentist. The tray must first be soaked in warm water before applying the gel into the hollow. Once the tray softens the gel can be applied and fitted into the mouth.

Tooth Whitening Gel can remain in the mouth for as long as 25 to 30 minutes. Results may not be the same for everyone and some can take longer than others for the stains to go and the tooth to become white. Generally you need to repeat this process for up to approximately ten days. Some tooth whitening gel can cause sensitivity. Discontinuing for a few days at this time will help to ease sensitivity. There are also tooth pastes and other product that will aid with your tooth sensitivity issues.

With tooth whitening gel and other types of whiteners your dazzling smile is just a step away.
