Top 10 Headache Remedies

By Edited Feb 3, 2014 4 8

Headaches are so terribly inconvenient that, in some cases, relief must be found using unconventional methods.  This article provides the top 10 remedies for heache relief.

10)  Drink Water:

Drinking water can do wonders to ease a headache.  Many headaches can be caused by dehydration, thus drinking water will reverse those effects.  Although drinking water is effective at curing headaches, it does not give immediate relief.

9) Apply Pressure to Temples:

Applying pressure to both temples, like psychics do, has proven to diminish all headache pains.

8)  Ingest caffeine:

Taking any amount of caffeine constricts the blood vessels which, in turn, reduces headache pains.

7)  Cut a Lime in Half:

Cutting a Lime in half and the applying it to your forehead provides temporary relief from headaches.  You could also try heating up the lime juice and sniffing the steam (for sinus headaches).

6)  Apple Cider Vinegar:

If you have a bottle of apple cider vinegar around the you could use it in several different ways to ease a headache.  First, you could ingest two caps full of the vinegar.  Additionally, you could apply the vinegar directly to the area of pain or sniff the aroma for positive results.

5)  Exposure to Hot/Cold:

One of the more effective remedies is the application of cold and hot appliances.  For example, some specific treatments include taking a hot shower, placing cold cloth over face/neck, ect.

4)  Chew On Ice:

Chewing on Ice provides, almost, immediate relief.  This method is convenient because everyone can get access to ice.

3)  Boil Water/Cinnamon/Sugar:

This remedy is fun especially if you have kids.  With a microwave or oven, you want to bring your water to a boil while mixing in cinnamon and sugar.  Once the water has come to a boil, sniff the steam.  this method provides near immediate relief and provides a tasty drink to have when your done.

2)  Vick's Vapo Rub:

Surprisingly, Vick's Vapo Rub or Vaseline applied to the head provides good relief.  Simply apply the remedy in the targeted area of pain or on temples.

1)  Peppermint:

Peppermint is most definitely the best home remedy for a headache out there.  If you have any peppermint oil or tea, then you have the greatest in cures for headaches.  When using peppermint oil, use a q-tip to apply to areas of pain.  Within seconds you will feel a tingle sensation that will provide very good headache relief.

I think water works the most wonder. Given its availability at relatively low costs, or free, in many communities. Anything natural, is good advice to many ailments.
