10. Mountain Climbing

Pico Duarte is the highest peak of the country 3,087 meters above sea level.  It is the highest peak in the Caribbean and fantastic for hiking experience.

9. Waterfalls

This amalgan of 27 waterfalls lies near Puerto Plata, northern part of the country.   One can go to this on an excursion (bring your bathing suits!). 

This waterfall is another fantastic site in the Samaná Peninsula (northeast).  

These are only a couple of the natural waterfalls worth visiting in the Dominican Republic.

8. Larimar & Amber

Amber:

Remember the very first scene in Jurassic Park? The amber being extracted was in the Dominican Republic.  Great amber is available for memories of the country.

Larimar is a beautiful and rare mineral only found the in the Dominican Republic.  Its color consists of a combination of white, blue, and green.

Merengue is a style of music and dance native to the Dominican Republic (easier than salsa).

A small town located in east Dominican Republic.  The main site to see is the Basilica of La Altagracia.

4. Cabarete

This beach town is located in the north part of the country.  The atmosphere in Cabarete draws in a younger crowd than other tourist parts.  Various lodging options are available for all types of budgets.  The main attractions are the beach, nightlife, and kite and wind surfing among other beach activities.
