Top 12 Movies while growing up in the 80's

While growing up I have come across a few movies that I never seem to get tired of. Most of these movies were made in the 80'S, however there are a few made in the early 90's and I just had to add them to the list. If I had to decide which movies out of this group were my favourite, Stand by Me and Man in the Moon would definitly be at the top. If you haven't seen some of these movies, go check them out!

Dirty Dancing Theatrical Poster
1. Dirty Dancing (1987)- Frances "Baby" Houseman, a daddy's girl, goes with her family to a resort in New York's Catskill Mountains. While at the resort Baby becomes infatuated with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny, who teaches her his own dance moves. Baby starts to get in a lot of trouble while hanging out with Johnny which leads to a rift between her and her father. The events that take place between Baby, Johnny and her father are ones that may tarnish relationships but evidently bring them closer together in the end. This movie stars: Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze, Jerry Orbach

2. The Goonies (1985)- Two brothers are forced to move from their home unless they can raise enough money to stop the constructuin of the golf course. One day Mikey happens to find a treasure map of "One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune. Mikey and all their friends set on a wild adventure in hopes of finding this treasire and using to be able to keep their home. The group of friends decide to call themselves the Goonies. This movie stars: Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman

3. Stand By Me (1986)- This movie is Based on Stephen King's Short story "The Body". This movie is told through Gordie Lachance who is a writer looking back on an event that happened in his younger days. When Gordie and his friends learn that another boy their own age was killed and never found, they set out on an adventure to try and find the body. This movie is one of the best and never gets old. This movie stars: Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland

4. Never Ending Story (1984)- Bastian is bullied almost everyday at school. In order to get away from it all he decides to go to a book shop where the owner reveals an ancient book to him that is very dangerous. He finds a spot to read the book in the school, and becomes enveloped by the world of Fantasia. Fantasia is in need of a hero to save it from destruction and Bastian is just the boy to take the job.This movie stars: Barret Oliver, Gerald McRaney, Tami Stronach

5. Gremlins (1984)- Small green monsters start tearing through Kingston Falls after a young man fails to follow the 3 simple rules of his new distinct pet, Gizmo. This is a hilarious twist to what initially looks like would be a scary monster movie. This movie stars: Zach Galligan, Randall Peltzer, Kate Beringer, Corey Feldman

6. Beetlejuice (1988)- Adam and Barbara are a dead couple that love to spend time in their family home until one day it is bought by a greedy family. Adam and Barbara try their best to get rid of the family but end up turning to a fella called Beetlejuice for help. This movie stars: Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara

7. Man in the Moon (1991)- It is the year 1957 and at 14, Dani leads a pretty simple life. Her mom is pregnant, her sister is beautiful and her dad is as strict as they come. Dani's life turns upside down as soon as the handsome Court Foster moves next door. This movie is full of emotion and includes a twist that nobody can see coming. This movie stars: Reese Witherspoon, Jason London, Emily Warfield, Sam Waterston Tess Harper

8. My Girl (1991)- Vada is a young girl who's mother is dead and whose father owns a funeral home. It is obvious that Vada is not your typical young girl. Her best friend is allergic to everything, she is in love with her English teacher and to top it all off her dad is falling in love with the new makeup expert. 9. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)- One day Ferris Bueller, along with his friends, decide to take the day off school. Ferris and his friends make this one of the best days of their lives while getting into trouble along the way. But Ferris must be careful because there are many people out to catch Ferris including his sister Jeanie and the dean of students.This movie stars: Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Jeffrey Jones, Mia Sara, Jennifer Grey, Ben Stein

11. ET: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)- Elliot's world changes when he meets an innocent little alien named ET. Elliot soon becomes friends with ET and decides to help him find a way to get back home. Elliot soon finds out that he must keep ET hidden before he ends up in the wrong hands. This movie stars: Henry Thomas, Dee Wallace, Robert MacNaughton, Drew Barrymore

12. Can't Buy me Love (1986)- After being the nerd in school for years, Ronald Miller decided to make a deal with one of the most popular girls in school to help him get into the cool group. Ronald offers this girl a thousand dollars to pretend to be his girlfriend but he soon learns that being popular may not be what he expected. This movie stars: Patrick Dempsey, Amanda Peterson, Courtney Gains, Tina Caspary, Seth Green

I'm Sorry but no Indiana Jones?... If you loved the goonies (same creative team) there is no way that Indy shouldn't be on your list!

This reminds me of how old I am really haha.
You forgot a few though, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, The Outsiders. Too only pick 12 is hard to do because us 80's kids had alot of good movies.
