2013 has been a great year for Hollywood. In fact, movies that have been released so far have been able to beat the figures from last year’s box office and ticket sales. In such a situation, even though the year isn’t over yet, it is easy to focus on the highest grossing films and guess the ones that will probably get sequels or prequels in the coming years.

Here are some of the top movies so far and a non-spoiler peek at what they are all about.

Iron Man 3

In this Iron Man sequel, Tony Stark begins on a journey of rebuilding and retribution after his world is torn apart by a terrorist called the Mandarin. The movie, which had a total budget of $200 million, has managed to hit $1.2 billion on the worldwide box office. This movie has proved to be one the most profitable yet and is still managing to bring in the big bucks.

Despicable Me 2

Who can resist falling in love with the Minions and their previously formidable master Guru?  No one of course! This fact has proved itself because it is seen that even though the animated movie had a budget of $76 million, it has bought in $781 million from box offices worldwide. In this sequel, viewers will enjoy watching the newly transformed and somewhat ‘softhearted’ Guru helping an Anti-Villain league to catch a powerful new super criminal and maybe even pursue a particularly interesting love interest.

The Conjuring

Anyone who is into horror movies will surely enjoy The Conjuring, which is a mixture of suspense, horror and great acting. The movie, which is directed by James Wan, stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga who are in the lead roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The couple helps a family that is terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. The movie’s budget was $20 million but it has done an overall business of $193 million worldwide. If you would like to watch a hair-raising horror movie that makes it difficult to sleep at night, this one is a must watch.

Man of Steel

Superman or ‘The Man of Steel’ has yet again stolen the hearts of millions around the world. The movie, which is an adaptation of the original Superman, was directed by Zack Snyder and has Henry Cavill playing the superhero. The story revolves around Clark Kent, who is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage after Earth is invaded and threatened by members of his race set on taking revenge.

Whether you are looking for suspense, comedy, horror or superhero movies, these are some titles that you should be adding to your To-Watch list.
