When I was growing up, LEGO was by far my favorite toy. It’s probably no wonder that I’m now about to graduate from college with an engineering degree! I’ve always been a big Star Wars fan as well, so I thought it would be nice to review the top 3 LEGO Star Wars sets.
Here are the top three, listed in price order:
LEGO Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (8083)
Credit: AmazonWhen the Empire attacked the Rebel base on Hoth in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, there are lots of brave Rebel troops that defend the base on the ground with guns and missiles. In this set, you can recreate this battle by setting up your missile guns and your 3 Rebel ground troops (decked out in their cold weather gear), as well as one Rebel pilot (in his orange flight suit). The missiles from the base station can be launched towards the enemy with a simple flick of your finger.
This is fairly easy set to build with 79 pieces. Once you have it all set up, you can add to it by buying the Snowtrooper Battle Pack (8084). This will add 2 Imperial snowtroopers, 1 Imperial officer, and an AT-AT driver. Now you’ll have something to shoot those missiles at!
LEGO Star Wars Clone Walker Battle Pack (8014)
Credit: AmazonFor fans of the more recent Star Wars Episodes I-III, there is the Clone Walker Battle Pack. This set of 72 pieces builds a two-man vehicle that carries two Clone Troopers. But this set doesn’t just contain those two Clone Troopers! It also includes a Clone Gunner and a Clone Commander. This gives you a total of four minifigures.
The walker (that is over 3.5 inches tall) has poseable legs so you can set it up to look however you want. There are also flick-fire missiles that can be launched at the enemy with a flick of your finger. This is great set to get your Clone Trooper army started with (or to add to your existing one).
LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (7965)
Credit: AmazonIf you’re looking for a bigger LEGO Star Wars set, then this is the one for you. This Millennium Falcon set has 1254 pieces and is taken from the Death Star escape scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. With the huge number of pieces in this set, it’ll take you awhile to put together, but once you’re done, you’ll have a great model to play with! This model is huge, measuring 23 inches long and over 14 inches wide!
The Millennium Falcon opens up so that you can play on the inside of the spaceship as well. There are six minifigures included in the set so that you can set up the scene just like in the movie. Here are the characters included with the 7965 LEGO set:
- Han Solo
- Luke Skywalker
- Ben Kenobi
- Princess Leia
- Darth Vader
Once you’ve reenacted the Episode IV, you can place this set on the shelf and have a great display model.
Where to Buy LEGO Star Wars Sets
You can buy these LEGO Star Wars sets at any of your local toy stores or department stores. You can also shop online and possibly get a better deal on them. Keep in mind that stores (both local and online) frequently have sales on all their LEGO sets, so you might want to keep an eye out for one of those. A sale would make a great opportunity to add these top 3 LEGO Star Wars sets to your LEGO collection.
