One of the top fun things to do in Richmond, VA, is to spend time at Byrd Park. While it was named for William Byrd, it is more generally referred to as Byrd Park. Within its grounds are three lakes: Fountain Lake, Swan Lake, and Shields Lake. In the summer months, riding one of the pedal boats, on Fountain Lake, is an enjoyable way to spend some time. With a state fishing license, anyone can fish these lakes. Woven around, and between, the Fountain Lake and the Shields Lake are sidewalks, for walking, and grassy areas, for playing. Also, within the park, there are tennis courts, softball fields, an exercise trail, picnic areas, and grills. Included here, too, are the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater and Ha’Penny Stage, where, in the summer months, the Festival of the Arts is held. Wow!
