WHAT DOES "GPT" MEAN?

A GPT or "GET PAID TO" website or company is a site that does just that. You 'get paid to' do something online.

THE MOST COMMON TYPE OF "GET PAID TO" WEBSITES

Paid Surveys

Have you ever had a market research firm call you up, or stop you in the street and tell you that they are conducting a survey on X or Y? Then they ask you a bunch of questions about your lifestyle, your habits, your shopping preferences etc and you might get a pen or a notepad for your efforts? Well, these days, it's cheaper and easier for these research companies to do this kind of survey online. You sign up to a 'get paid to' site and they do the work of finding suitable surveys for you.

How much can I typically earn?

With all these Get Paid To sites, it's difficult to say as it may vary wildly. And it depends on the country you're from. Many companies are not open to memberships to every country, USA is by far the most popular and even if you live outside the US and join up, the numbers of offers available to you is limited. I And if you live in the USA, there is a lot more choice available to you. For example, getting paid to fill out surveys on Cashcrate, range from around $3 to $6 and up. So let's say you spend a couple of hours in the evening filling out surveys, you could make around $20.

Paid Games

If you like playing games online, why don't you get paid for playing them! However, there is a note of advice: most 'get paid to play games online' sites, you don't get paid simply for playing online, it's usually a chance to enter sweepstakes, contests, lucky draws and such.

Paid To Surf The Web

How these companies work. Typically, you download a toolbar from them which will appear on the top or bottom of your computer screen when you are online. By having this bar open while you surf the web, you are allowing companies to show their ads, news and other promotional offers.

How much can I typically earn?

CashFiesta is popular 'get paid to surf the web' site and it pays around $1 per 1,000 points you earn. The rate increases if you surf more or refer friends. You earn points by surfing, signing up for offers and other promotions. You would need to be online a fair bit to earn any serious cash on this, but making a few bucks here and there just by having a relatively small bar on your computer screen seems pretty brainless.

REFERRAL PROGRAMS

The best way of making money for the majority of these GET PAID TO SITES is get referrals. Some of the better known companies such as Cashcrate have a tiered referrals scheme in which you not only get money for every survey your referral completes, but you make money for every survey your referral's referral makes. This is what turns a 'get paid to' online site into a passive money making nice little earner for you.

So...let's get to it. Here are the top five GPT sites:

1. CASHCRATE.com

Cashcrate has surveys, offers, a generous referral scheme and also a slew of discounts from companies such as Apple I-Tunes, Babies R Us, Foot Locker and many more.

The best thing about them is that they are very established, and therefore trustworthy, easy to use and you can join from pretty much any country worldwide. They have over two million members, making them one of the largest GPT sites.

Their referral scheme is excellent. You get paid 20% of what your referrals make and 10% of what THEIR referrals make. As you refer more people, your payout percentage increases so you can end up getting paid up to 30% of what your referrals make and up to a crazy generous 20% of what their referrals in turn make.

They pay out monthly (minimum payout of $20)

Oh and you earn $1 just for signing up. So why not?!

2. SQUISHYCASH.com

Squishy Cash is also open to worldwide members, but in truth, as with most GPT sites, there are more surveys and offers available to US residents. The great thing is that you earn $3 the moment you sign up and again, it's well established. They have a great interface and active form too. Cashcrate just edges it in terms of being more established but Squishycash is no slouch either. In their favor, they have a THREE-tired referral scheme. So you earn 25% of what your friends make in cash, then 5% of what your friends' friends make, and then 2% of what your friends' friends' friends make. That can really add up for you.

Payment is also on a monthly basis with many payment options includeing PayPal, check, Amazon, Target, Walmart but you can also receive payments on a DAILY basis but there is a fee involved.

3. DONKEYMAILS.com

The main way you earn money on donkeymails is by allowing companies to send you emails and you visit their site. Each advertiser pays a different amount per email they send, so it's quite difficult to gauge the earning potential. As with all these GPT sites, it's really volume and referrals that is going to bring in the money for you. What sets Donkeymails apart is their payment system. If you are signed up with LibertyReserve, you can request payment after you have only earned 1 cent. For Paypal and Alertpay, the minimum payout is only $1. They have other payment options too. And they welcome members from all countries. As for referrals, you make 10% from direct referrals, and 5% from your friends' friends and 3% from your friends's friends friends and...there's more....2% from your friends' friends' friends' friends and...wait there's another level in which you make 1% (not sure if I can write 'friends' any more without this article looking like spam!!)

4. SWAGBUCKS.com

At Swagbucks you can earn money from searching the web, filling out surveys, voting in polls, sending in photos and videos, trading in cell phones and video games...and of course, referrals. For some of these activities, you are not paid every time you take part in that activity, but by taking part you are entered into a lottery. Again, it's established with an excellent interface and the great thing is there are very many ways to earn. You can also download a Swagbucks toolbar to make earning money with Swagbucks even easier. However, it's currently only open to residents of the US, UK and Canada (except Quebec).

5. GANGSTERGREED.com

Cashcrate is more established than Gangstercreed, but the advantage of Gangstercreed is that you can request for payment any time you have earned $10 or more. You just hit a 'cashout' button and the money goes into your paypal account within 24 hours. Great if you always need some cash to tie you over until the next payday! If you remember, for Cashcrate you are paid monthly and you have to go above $20. If you don't reach $20, the money is rolled over to the next month. At this moment, anyone from international countries can join Gangstergreed but you cannot participate in offers, you can only take advantage of their referral scheme.

OTHER NOTABLE MENTION:

PROJECT PAYDAY

Projectpayday.com would be up by the top of the list, but it's currently ONLY OPEN TO USA RESIDENTS

If you want some extra income without leaving home, look into legit, GET PAID TO sites. It's well worth the effort.
