Durham, North Carolina, is located close to the center of the state. Durham is a vibrant community with many things to see and do. Here are some of the top attractions in Durham.

The Museum of Life and Science is a terrific place for people of all ages to enjoy. Exhibits at the museum include an area for people to take a closer look at red wolves and black bears in their natural habitats in the great outdoors. Families can get a tour of the campus by riding the Ellerbe Creek Railway. Kids can get visit various bug exhibits that bring them close to various inspects and spiders. There are plenty of informational activities to do, helpful staff and fun experiments for kids to experience. Kids and adults can see math and science come alive in this amazing facility.

The Carolina Theatre, which has been open for over 80 years, brings downtown Durham residents and visitors a wide variety of performances and entertainers. Singers, musicians, actors and dancers all perform at the Carolina Theatre. In addition to this, folks can tour a museum inside the Theatre and learn of the impact it has had throughout the many years it has been in existence. Carolina Theatre hosts a number of film festivals throughout the course of the year. Popular festivals include Retrofantasma Film Series and Nevermore Film Festival.

The Sarah P. Duke Gardens, which is located on the campus of Duke University, is a free garden open to the public. Folks can view about 55 acres of beautiful flowers and shrubbery while walking on five miles of path. There are four districts in the park and they are the Historical Core and Terraces, the Doris Duke Center Gardens, the H.L. Blomquist Garden of Native Plants and the William L. Culberson Asiatic Arboretum.

Brightleaf District in downtown Durham is a terrific place for folks to get a great sampling of the city. There are terrific places to shop that have things for people of all ages. Durahm is known as a flourishing artist community and there is a shop that sells art at Brightleaf District. Other shops sell merchandise including clothing, jewelry, antiques and books. Numerous restaurants serve local and international cuisine.
