Mall of America

Bloomington Minnesota is home to America’s largest mall, the Mall of America (MOA). If you love to shop this is the place for you. The mall has over 520 different stores and restaurants, so there is something for everyone! Minnesota does not have a sales that on clothing, so that is a plus for you. Not only does the mall have stores to shop at, there is a indoor amusement park with 25 different rides to enjoy, a movie theater, and a aquarium! The mall is a great place for families of all ages to visit because everyone can find something that they want to do. Even if you do not want to shop, you can get your exercise. The walking distance around one level of the MOA is .57 miles! The Mall of American is defiantly one of my favorite places to visit in Minnesota.

Mill City Museum

Mill City Museum is located in Minneapolis Minnesota along the historic Mississippi Riverfront. The museum was built into the ruins of what was once the largest flour mill in the world. Mill City Museum is a great learning experience for all ages. You will learn the history of flour mills and the history of the role of the Mississippi river through out history in Minnesota and the rest of the United States. Admission prices range from $6.00 to $11.00 depending on your age. Children ages 5 and under are free.

Canal Park

Canal Park is located in Duluth Minnesota, home of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Canal Park is yet another fun family place to visit in Minnesota. There are many things that you can do in canal park. One of the most popular is to watch huge ships pass under the Aerial Lift Bridge. You can also visit the lighthouse, skip rocks into the cold lake water, or visit the Lake Superior Marine Museum. Best of all, non of these activities cost any money to do.

Summit Avenue

Named one of America’s “Great Streets”, St. Paul Minnesota is home to historic Summit Avenue Victorian era mansions, some dating back to the 1860s. You can take a stroll down this beautiful street yourself, otherwise walking tours are offered on the weekends. The tours begin at the James J. Hill house and continue down Summit Avenue and concludes outside of the Cathedral of St. Paul. The tours focus on architecture, the original owners, social history, and preservation techniques. These tours are offered year round.

Tour the Mayo Clinic

Rochester Minnesota is home to the Mayo Clinic, a leading hospital in research. This is a great place to visit if you are interested in modern medicine or the history of medicine. There are several guided tours that you can take. The different tours available include: the Mayo Clinic campus, art, historical suite, Heritage Hall, research information center, and Saint Marys Hospital.
