Top Five Travel Destinations in India

Blessed with a rich historical heritage, India has no shortage of destinations that one can explore and a brief analysis of the inbound tours shows that there are certain destinations that are common amongst all kinds of visitors and these include the Taj Mahal, Kerala, Sikkim, Goa and Khajuraho. Let us discuss each of these in detail.

Taj Mahal: Situated in Agra, this is one of the most beautiful structures built by man. Constructed in the seventeenth century by Emperor Shahjehan, in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is a mausoleum of love built in white marble along the banks of the river Yamuna and is a sight to behold on a full moon night. It took nearly 20,000 workers almost twenty years to build this mausoleum of love.  

Kerala: The southernmost state in India, Kerala is referred to as God’s own country given its scenic natural beauty and incredibly charming backwaters that offer a reprieve       for the senses. Being the land of Ayurveda, tourists can expect soothing ayurvedic massages in the lap of nature. Boating in the backwaters of Kerala is an experience that most tourists long for on their trip to India.

Sikkim: This hilly state tucked in the foothills of the Himalayas is famous for its monasteries and scenic views of the Kanchenjunga mountain ranges. Some of the   places that tourists visit include the Tsangu Lake and the capital city Gangtok that is a magnet for tourists. The state is quite safe for tourists as it has the lowest crime rate in the world.

Goa: The land of sea, sand and sunshine that offers its visitors a grand welcome. Life is one never ending party in this coastal state that attracts tourists from all across the world be it Russia, Europe or the Americas.  Its famous beaches like the Calangute, Anjuna, Vagator, Dona Paula, and Aguada are swarmed with tourists who revel in the scenic natural beauty of the state.

Khajuraho: This temple town in central India is famous for its rock sculptures on the walls of its temples that reflect the eternal philosophy of love that governs mankind. These temples celebrate the union of a man and woman and indicate that true love is the pathway to God.
