By | Nov 3, 2009 | 2 Comments | Rating: 1

With over 90 museums, San Diego has one of the most diverse lists of museums there is. This makes deciding which ones to see very hard. Therefore, instead of listing out all the museums in San Diego, here is just a small list to get your started.

If you are museum hunting in San Diego, you would of course want to start at Balboa Park where you can knock off some of the best all in one location. Like the Mecca for museums in San Diego, Balboa Park is a 1400 acre park that is home to many of San Diego's top museums. With close to 15 museums, it is hard to narrow down, but here are some of the museums you should work into your trip to Balboa Park:

• Museum of San Diego History: Learn the history of San Diego through photographs and cultural artifacts dating back to the 1840s.
• San Diego Automotive Museum: Stole through an array of car exhibits featuring the history of automotive progression.
• San Diego Museum of Man: Explore the anthropology of man with artifacts, folklore, and human remains that tell the story of mankind.
• San Diego Museum of Art: Browse through collections of fine and contemporary art from Renaissance, Asian, to nineteenth century European painting and sculptures, just to name a few.

Though Balboa Park is known for some of San Diego's top museums, there are also a number of other great museums throughout the city. Here are four other great museums around town:

• Children's Museum San Diego: Have fun with the kids at this interactive creative zone for children to explore the arts.
• San Diego Chinese Historical Museum: Learn about the heritage of Chinese culture with artifacts and photos in a building that was once a Chinese mission.
• San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum: Follow the story of the Navy's Midway with over 40 exhibits featuring 21 completely restored aircrafts.
• San Diego Maritime Museum: Learn the history of US naval advancement and also board and explore real anchored ships.

You could spend an entire year exploring the museums of San Diego since there are so many to see, but I hope this piece of tourist information for San Diego, CA narrowed down list will get you started.
