Top Spots to Visit on Oahu

Hawaii is filled with countless beautiful and awesome activities to see and do while you are visiting there. If you have never been to Hawaii then you are truly missing out on arguably the most beautiful State if the United States. Here are some of the attractions and tourist destinations that you should definitely arrange time to visit while you are in Hawaii. Many people try and fit all of the Islands of Hawaii into one vacation. If you dedicate your time to One Island you will be able to do more on the Island and you vacation will often cost less money. For this article I will focus on the Island of Oahu.

Oahu may only be the 3rd largest Island of all of the Hawaiian Islands but it is packed with enough cool stuff you could spend an entire month there and still not fit in everything. If you can only visit one Hawaiian island on your vacation then I would highly recommend that you check out Oahu.

Nuuanu Pali Lookout

The Nuuanu Pali Lookout is one of the greatest lookouts in Hawaiian and definitely the top lookout point on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. If you visit Oahu then you must visit Nuuanu Pali Lookout. Multiple trips to Nuuanu Pali Lookout are also encouraged so that you can get this spectacular view from different times of the day. Nuuanu Pali Lookout gives you a vastly different view depending on whether it is morning, evening, nighttime, or middle of the day. There is nothing more gorgeous then watching the sunset in the evening time while sitting up at the Nuuanu Pali Lookout.

Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is one of the top tourist destinations in Hawaii. Fortunately Pearl Harbor is located on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu so there will be no excuse for you missing out on this attraction on your visit to this majestic Hawaiian Island.

The highlight of a visit to Pearl Harbor is the USS Arizona Memorial that stands as a reminder and memorial for everyone who lost their life that eventful day in 1941 when the Japanese Imperial Military surprised the Americans with a sneak attack.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was a sad day in American history but it led to the Country coming together and ultimately proving to be victorious. Celebrate history by spending a day at Pearl Harbor.

Honolulu

Honolulu is the Capital City of Hawaii. Honolulu is the most populous City of Hawaii. Any trip to Oahu will generally take you to Honolulu because that is where the largest airport is located.

North Shore

When you watch ESPN or other sport shows and see the huge and epic waves of the North Shore you are also witnessing one of the best surfing spots on Oahu. The North Shore actually is one of the best surfing spots in the World. For epic waves and to witness some of the best surfers in the World a visit to the North Shore are in order.

The biggest waves come in the winter time. Although the North Shore of Oahu is known around the World for having huge waves, it is also a great place for beginners to learn to surf. There are many protected coves that make an excellent outlet for learning to surf. How cool would it to be go back home and tell people you learned how to surf at the North Shore! If you are into surfing culture and enjoy watching surfing movies and reading surfing magazines then you will recognize a lot of the famous spots of the North Shore. As cool as the North Shore is, the coolest thing about the North Shore is the quality of surfers that can be found here. Nothing beats the North Shore of Oahu for providing the best waves in the World and attracting the top surfers from around the world.

Aloha Tower

The Aloha Tower is a lighthouse that has been in operation since 1926. After the attack on Pearl Harbor the military sent people to guard the Aloha Tower to keep it from being occupied by the enemy who had just attacked our Country. The Aloha Tower has an observation deck that is opened to the public.

Makapuu Point Light

Makapuu Point Light is one of the prettiest lighthouses in Hawaii. Unlike the Aloha tower, the Makapuu Point Light actually looks like a traditional lighthouse.

Valley of the Temples Memorial Park

Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is a memorial park where many people are buried. Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is simply gorgeous. The Valley of the Temples Memorial Park overlooks the town of Kaneohe.

The Beaches

Oahu is home to numerous world-class beaches. You cannot go wrong with any of the beaches. Oahu is home to one of the most famous beaches in the World, Waikiki Beach. Some of the best beaches on Oahu are:

Waikiki Beach

All of the beaches listed above are worthy on their own merit of being great beaches for tourists as well as locals, but Waikiki Beach stands out among all the others. If you are a surfer it may not be your favorite beach on Oahu but if you are visiting Oahu for the first time then Waikiki Beach is sure to be a highlight of your trip.

Honolulu Marathon

In December each year the Honolulu Marathon is held. If you are a runner this is a can’t miss event. If you have never been to Hawaii before then you will be amazed at how beautiful this marathon course is each year. If you are not a runner you will still be amazed at the runners. Make sure you bring your camera if you are not running because you will see people from all over the World and a camera is the best way to capture these moments to share with your friends and family on Tumblr and Facebook.

Hi Great informative and inspirational piece. Incidentally,knowing how extensively you've traveled the world, I think you might get a smaill out of ths: I've been to Hawaii a few times but I've NEVER seen it. That is, I either flew in after darkness or before dawn on flights that left after customs. Maybe one of these day I can see oahu. In the meanwhile two gigantic thumbs up
