Top Vancouver Places to Visit for Tourists in the Summer

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 2

Vancouver, BC is consistently rated as one of the best places to live in the world. Vancouver has breathtaking scenery being surrounded by mountains and the ocean. For those looking to travel to Vancouver, here are some of the top Vancouver places to visit.

Granville Island

Granville Island is located under the Granville street bridge deck. This is one of the top Vancouver places to visit because it is a truly unique area in Vancouver that has some great entertainment and some of the best patios in the city. Two of my favorite patios are Bridges (huge dock patio) and the Sandbar. There is nothing quiet as relaxing as having a cocktail when the sun is setting on a perfect summer day. If it is entertainment you are looking for TheatreSports at the Improv Center is a great option.

Grouse Mountain (hiking)

You can not beat hiking in BC, Grouse Mountain is the perfect place to start. There are two ways to get up Grouse Mountain. You can either walk, or take the gondola to the top. By walk, I mean climb the Grouse Grind. The Grouse grind is extremely steep, challenging and popular. If you are athletic the grouse grind is a must do. Grouse Mountain is one of the top Vancouver places to visit because the most amazing view of the city waits for you at the top. There is tons of entertainment and dining when you get to the top.

Deep Cove Kayaking

Deep Cove is in North Vancouver, and is by far my favorite place to kayak. The water is refreshing, and there are tons of little islands to kayak to and explore. If being out on the water doesn't float your boat, there is a hiking trail that will take you to 3 spectacular viewpoints.

Science World

Science World is the top Vancouver place to visit for kids. The majority of exhibits at Science World are interactive. There is also an IMAXX 3D theatre in there that if you haven't experienced, should be added to your list.

Stanley Park

The 2 main things to do in Stanley Park is to bike/walk/run/roller blade the seawall, or visit the Vancouver Aquarium. Doing both of these activities and having lunch will fill up the better part of a day for you.

These are just a few of the top Vancouver places to visit. I hope that this brief guide will give you a few ideas on how to plan your trip to Vancouver.
