Totally Free Credit Report

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

You may not know this but you are entitled to a totally free credit report at least once a year from all three major credit bureaus without having to do anything besides requesting your credit reports from the appropriate credit report provider. These totally free credit reports have been available to all citizens ever since the enactment of the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 2005. Within this law the government has mandated that all of its citizens be able to have access to a totally free credit report at least once a year without any sort of payment, and without exception. The government has slowly rolled out this law on a regional basis over the past few years and it has now become fully applicable for every part of the nation. While this piece of legislature may seem like it is simple and clear-cut, in reality there is of course an abundance of subtle nuances that you must pay attention to if you're a person who wants to get their free credit reports without having to pay for anything.

The biggest hurdle you are going to face is where you should go to get your totally free credit report. Ever since the government has enacted this new law an entire industry has come into being that has made its business to offer people free credit reports in combination with other sorts of credit products. These other sorts of credit products are never free of course, and it has become a common practice by many of these free credit report companies to upsell their customers with a barrage of these kinds of products when the person only wants to access their free credit report. A lot of these companies make it so that you must either purchase something or provide your credit card information before you can gain access to your credit report, and in this sense these companies do not provide a totally free credit report by any stretch of the imagination.

People then become confused when they are told that they must purchase something or provide their credit card information to access their report, and the majority of people then have difficulty making a decision on whether they should either buy something or look somewhere else for their free credit report. The good news is that there is a website that you can turn to that will not try to sell you anything or take your credit card information while providing you your absolutely free credit report. This website is fully endorsed by the government and it can provide you with a free annual credit report as long as you are willing to go onto their website and submit some of your personal information.

The website I am referring to is AnnualCreditReport.com and this site is reputable and fully capable of delivering on what the government originally intended by setting forth this law. The only drawback to this site is that they cannot provide you with your credit scores along with your credit reports from all three major bureaus, and you are going to have to look elsewhere if you want your scores as well. If you go somewhere else for you score you are most likely going to have to pay for them because nowhere in the Fair Credit Reporting Act does it say that every citizen must have access to their credit scores along with their credit reports. You must consider all of your options before you make a decision on where to go for your free credit report, and just be prepared to be sold something if you go anywhere else besides AnnualCreditReport.com to get your credit scores along with your credit report.
