Toy Stories
Did you know every Toy has a story? And no I am not exactly talking about the Toy Story Movies. But I am refering to a couple of the actual Toys from Toy Story! The toys from the Toy Story movie have been to places you and I have never dreamt of and have won awards we have never heard of! Here are some little known facts about your favorite Pixar Animated characters.
Buzz Lightyear for example, actually got to go to the Space Station. In September 2009 Buzz the Space Ranger returned form a 15 month journey at the International Space Station. Buzz was allowed to join the Discovery Space Crew aboard that flight as a part of the Toys in Space Program. Buzz is actually listed on NASA's site as a part of a children's program. Buzz was a part of an intiative collaborated between Disney and NASA. The Toys in Space Program was designed to compared the movement of Toys in micro gravity compared to toys here on Earth. ( No I did not make this up and No I don't know of what benefit it is to us)

Another Toy Story success is Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl. She received an award from the Patsy Montana Entertainer Award of the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. In case you don't know, Patsy Montana was a famous Yodeling cowgirl. Jessie won this award in 2000. Jessie was in good company. Another well known recipient of this award is country singer, Emmylou Harris!
Pixar even created an animated acceptance speech for Jessie at the awards ceremony!
The Cowgirl Hall of Fame was created by a group who wanted to honor women of the Wild West. This Museum is located in Texas.
Another popular character from the animated genre that got major recognition was none other than Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny won an award for the Greatest Cartoon Character of All Time from TV Guide. Bugs Bunny and another famous cartoon character were the only ones to recieve a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Can You guess who the other one is? Yep none other than Mickey Mouse!
Another Milestone for Bugs is that his cartoon "What's Opera Doc" won recognition from the Library of Congress as being "culturally significant" and was preserved in the National Film Registry.
So as you can see some toys just develop into life all their own.
