Training A Wild Horse

It is quite difficult and complex to train wild horses. Only an experienced trainer with ample exposure and education to training wild horses can be successful in handling one. These tips are also helpful in wild horse training.

Identify first which horse could be trained successfully. Every animal is born with his own temperament and is either wild or tame. Distinguish between the wild horse and the well behaved one and modulate your training accordingly.

You've got to make it clear to the horse who is really in command. You have to show the horse that you are confident and has full authority. This display of authority comes from your complete demeanor. The way you talk to the horse, your commands and your looks would leave an impression to the horse that you are the one controlling the situation. You've got to win the respect of the horse in order for him to follow you. At any point of time if the horse feels your lack of confidence he would become defiant and would be very difficult to train.

Never try scaring a horse. An incisive intimidation would cause failure in wild horse training. In order to be trained, the horse must be brought to respect and trust you. Never flare your anger or say curses to your horse. You have to establish the trust in the eyes of the horse so he would listen to you. Trying to make him obey out of fear would never happen, as a scared horse is the most difficult to handle, forget about training him.

Make your language and cues consistent in training the horse. If you use new cues or language it would greatly confuse the horse in understanding you. If you are consistent while communicating with the horse he would gradually understand you and your commands better. This would help him respond to commands too s he knows what is expected from him.</p> <p>Give lots of positive reinforcement in terms of rewards, a pat, appreciative language etc when your horse performs a good job. Using your horse's favorite food like carrots, sugar, and etc., would make him understand what he should do to get good rewards. Talking appreciatively to your horse could also help aside from providing material rewards.

Try to gain from others experiences and your own to devise the best possible method for wild horse training. Since horses are very sensitive animals, they need to have confidence in you as a trainer in order for them to follow you. The horse will eventually do as you say once he accepted you as his master.
