I chose the Tramontina 4 quart covered casserole pan because it seemed to be the perfect casserole pan for my family. I had just recently purchased a set of Tramontina stainless steel tri ply cookware that I was very pleased with. So, I knew the quality and construction of the casserole pan would be good. Once I received, and started using the casserole pan, I knew I had made the right choice.

After hearing and reading report after report on the possible health side effects of cooking in Teflon, I decided that it was time to make a change, and I got rid of my Teflon pots and pans. That is the reason for this journey to find the highest quality, and safest, cookware in which to fix meals for my family. After much research, my conclusion was to continue to use my stainless steel Revere Ware, and to add some tri ply stainless steel pieces to what I already have.

My decision to purchase the Tramontina brand was based on an article in ‘Cook’s Illustrated.’ They compared the Tramontina stainless steel tri ply cookware to the top of the line All-Clad stainless steel tri ply cookware. Tramontina came away with rave reviews. Another reason for deciding on this brand was cost. While I like the All-Clad brand of products, because of their quality, reliability, and the fact that they are Made-in-the-USA, I didn’t want to spend that kind of money in this tight economy.

Tramontina stainless steel tri ply cookware is a little hard to find, but after researching, I found that it could be ordered through Walmart, and that is where I ordered mine. There has been some talk, recently, that this particular line is being phased out. So, in response to this concern, I have just ordered a couple of other pans to add to my collection. It seems the new version of these pots and pans will have a tri ply disc affixed to the bottom, whereas mine has the tri ply material on the bottom as well as in the sides. As of this writing, Amazon has two different Tramontina tri ply clad sets available for sale, similar to mine.

The 4 quart casserole pan is just the right size for my family of three adults. Typically, when the casserole pan is filled to capacity, you can feed four to six people, depending on the type of recipe prepared. I notice that I am using the casserole pan more frequently lately because of the high cost of meat. Mixing a small amount of meat with other ingredients is a great way to stretch your food dollars. Another benefit of using a smaller amount of meat, and adding in more vegetables, is that it makes for healthier eating as well.

Casserole Pan

Using the stainless steel tri ply casserole pan lets me begin a recipe on top of the stove, and then simply move it into the oven to finish cooking. This saves me lots of time and cleanup in the kitchen as well. Another great benefit of the Tramontina casserole pan is that it is dishwasher safe. Before loading it into your dishwasher, if you have any stubborn deposits, just use a little baking soda, and they will come right off. All-Clad recommends using Bar Keeper’s Friend on their products, but I have had good luck with baking soda, and I like the environmental safety factor associated with using baking soda.

The tri ply construction of the 18/10 stainless steel casserole pan allows it to keep an even heat while cooking, and it only requires a low to medium heat. Most of the pieces in this collection are made for induction cooking. To make sure the casserole pan, you purchase, is induction ready, test it with a magnet. If the magnet attaches, and holds, then it is induction ready.

Casserole Pan Two

We have talked about how easy this casserole pan is to use, how energy efficient it is, and how versatile it is. Now, let’s talk about how nice it looks. The Tramontina casserole pan, with its polished finish, adds glamour to even the simplest hamburger dish. Add some pizzazz to your dinner table, and treat your family to a delicious one-pan meal fixed in this casserole pan. The two strong handles on this casserole pan make it easy to carry to the dinner table or out to a potluck supper.
