Europe is one of their favorite destinations. Europe is rich with culture and has a history much longer than the United States. Even though it is far away, it somehow feels very much like home. Here are some destinations in Europe that Americans particularly favor:
Americans enjoy traveling to England because they can get a taste of a new culture without having to learn a new language. Many Americans have ancestors who came from England, and going there helps them reconnect with their roots. In England, they can travel to London to see the home of the Beatles, see the ancient ruins at Stonehenge, or relax in a spa in Bath. They want to have tea, eat fish and chips or try the authentic curries in one of the many Indian restaurants. They want to see cricket and football matches. In 2012, Americans as well as the rest of the world will be flocking to England to see the Olympics.
For a more exotic destination, many Americans choose Spain. They enjoy the beautiful warm beaches. The culture of Spain is especially fascinating with the Spanish cuisine, such as paella and sangria, and the flamenco dancers. They enjoy seeing the castles, the cathedrals and the villages. Barcelona and Madrid are hot destinations for their art and architecture.
France, and especially Paris, is a must-see place for a honeymoon. Climbing the Eiffel Tower and walking down the Champs-Élysées is a dream of every romantic couple. Americans enjoy shopping in France and drinking the wines of the Loire valley.
Italy also has fabulous beaches and an exotic culture. Americans are fascinated by the destroyed city of Pompeii, and see the ancient ruins of Rome. Many want to see the Vatican. Seeing the floating city of Venice is on the top of the list for Italy. Many cooking shows in America feature recipes of Italy, and Americans going to Italy to get a taste of Napoli pizza, Sicilian cuisine and Italian wines. Like the other countries, there are beaches, castles, cathedrals, art and architecture.
This is not an all inclusive list, however. Americans also enjoy going to Germany, Austria, Greece, Ireland, Holland, Norway, and other countries in Europe as well. Some prefer to take a long vacation, and take their time touring all throughout Europe. Some dream of backpacking, while others prefer train travel. Some will choose a package tour, maybe taking a cruise on the Mediterranean.
Traveling to Europe, including the countries of England, Spain, France, and Italy lets them taste authentic cuisine and see history firsthand. We can walk into history and see the land of our forefathers in person by visiting the ancient ruins and other historical places. Traveling helps Americans meet people of other countries, and become more open-minded. It provides entertainment and a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It teaches Americans about how different people throughout the world live. They can see how the things they take for granted are different in other parts of the world. They can compare their lives with others and see the differences. They can also see globally how much people around the world have in common.
