Treadmill Equipment Mat Buying

By | Feb 6, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

There are many reasons why a beginner shopping for a treadmill equipment mat might be easily confused. For a product that is essentially a commodity, there are different brands trying to push their product as better than the rest. The truth is that a standard mat will probably be of sufficient quality and affordably priced. Spending less than one hundred dollars will still get you a very decent mat. Sure there are brand names and promises of higher durability but these extras will come at a premium.

For more information about what type of mat you need there are many treadmill mat reviews online. Big name brands like SuperMat makes different sized mats that all come in varying thicknesses. A standard treadmill equipment mat is any mat that meets the size and thickness requirements. Most typical home treadmills will need a mat that is at least 6.5 feet long by 3 feet wide and 3/8 inches thick. A thicker mat might offer more support but you have to be sure that the material is of equal quality to another mat that can be considered a basic or standard mat.

Also, those with special treadmills that are larger or longer might have to consider purchasing a differently sized mat. The good thing is that while most mats come in standard ranges of sizes, it is perfectly acceptable to have a mat larger than what you need. In fact, a larger or thicker than your required measurement just means the potential for extra protection.

We mentioned the material of the mat because while most standard mats are made of either rubber or some type of PVC foam, there are some cheaper materials that will advertise they have extra thick mats. But once an unsuspecting customer takes one of these rip off mats home, they soon discover the material easily compresses under the weight of the treadmill rendering virtually useless.
