Chinese herbal medicine

Ancient Chinese herbs have been found to contain many medicinal properties

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK. It is estimated that one in eight woman will develop breast cancer during their lifetime with often low survival rates when the condition is left undiagnosed. According to a study published in NY times breast cancer incidence rates increased rapidly over the last three decades affecting younger people [1].

The healing properties of Chinese herbs are well-known in traditional Chinese medicine but often overlooked in conventional western treatment of breast cancer. A large-scale review of research by Australia and Chinese University scientists have shown that a wide range of Chinese medicinal herbal medicine are very effective in preventing and treating breast cancer due to unique molecules found in these herbs. As the war on cancer continues, interest in Chinese herbal medicine as an additional treatment in preventing and treating the disease is growing.

This article gives a summary of the most powerful Chinese herbs to treat and prevent breast cancer:

  • Tulipa edulis

The active ingredient in Tulipa edulis is colchicine and is effective in depressing cancer cells. Colchicine severely damages a cell’s internal dividing process by blocking the action of a protein called tubulin and is also found in crocuses flowers.

  • Odlenlandia,lobelia and pynostelma

These herbs are effective in cleansing the body of toxins and eliminating blood stasis. Estrogen and xenoestrogens act as endocrine disrupting chemicals and are one of the leading causes of breast cancer. Bisphenol A (BPA) found in canned foods and 17- β estradiol are one of the most toxic substances and have been shown to initiate and progress breast cancer. Eliminating these toxins slow down progression of breast cancer [2].

  • Ligustrum seed, cuscuta seed and lycii fruit

These herbal seeds prevent alternations in breast cell genes that lead to cancer. While technicaly a fruit, lycii can be bought and consumed in its dried form.

Western conventional medicine commonly ignores and rejects herbal medicine therapy in cancer treatment. This lack of interest is based on the sole reason that herbal medicines cannot be patented and thus are not profitable.

Once a woman has been diagnosed with breast cancer, depending on the stage of the cancer, standard treatment is recommend (Surgery, chemotherapy and estrogen blockers). Chinese medicine along with these conventional therapies increases the chance of a patient to fully recover and cure this disease. In addition, fresh ginger is extremely effective for relieving nauseau and vomiting in people undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
