Treating Urinary Tract Infections at Home

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Urinary tract infections are the most common urological complaints that people suffer from, and millions of people are suffering from one at any one time. The most common medical treatment for them is the use of antibiotics which can usually clear the infection up after a few days. However for those who cannot get to a doctor, or who cannot afford to use one, there are ways of treating the condition at home.

The most common symptoms of urinary tract infections are cloudy urine and pain while urinating, although there are other less common symptoms also such as blood being passed while urinating (Hematuria). There are several other problems which can often present the some symptoms as urinary tract infections, such as kidney infections and some gall bladder problems also. Because of this you should always try to get a professional medical opinion before you try to treat any symptoms yourself. If you regularly suffer from these kinds of problems than you will likely know the symptoms and be able to tell what you have wrong with you.

The first and easiest way to relieve the pain of a urinary tract infection is to simply drink a lot more water, and less of anything alcoholic, sugary, fizzy or containing a lot of caffeine. The reason being that these kinds of drinks can irritate the urinary tract and make the infection more painful. water helps to clean the system of bacteria because it increases urination. The more you urinate the more of the bacteria in the urinary tract will be expelled.

Secondarily drinking cranberry juice is another way to effectively combat all types of urinary infections. Cranberry juice contains an enzyme which inhibits bacteria from sticking to the insides of the urinary tract. Bacteria which cannot attach itself to anything inside the body is then soon expelled from the body through urination or killed by antibodies. Be sure to get unsweetened juice if you can find it, as cranberry juice naturally contains a lot of sugar, which should be avoided.
