Special Recipe for the Holiday Season
Tuna pie is like the twin brother of Meat pie. They are both made the same way except one is made with meat and the other with tuna. Meat pie is a popular dish in almost every culture, but now tuna is taking over with the delicious new taste it brings to the bakery world. This pie can be consumed with tea or coffee. It can be an entree for an occasion. It is flexible because it's what you make it. This will be a great recipe for the holiday season.
Tuna Pie Special
3 cups All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 Oz butter (1 stick)
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 cans of bumblebee tuna (in oil or water)
4 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion chopped
1 green bell pepper chopped
1 medium sized potato diced
½ tablespoon vegetable Goya seasoning
½ tablespoon Jamaican Curry
Put olive oil into a pan on medium heat stove.
Pour chopped onions and green peppers into the pan. Mix for 5 minutes.
Add diced potatoes and mix.
Add Goya season and Jamaican curry. Mix and let it stir for 5 minutes.
Check to make sure the potatoes are a little soft (not too soft).
Sift the tuna so that most of the water and oil is out.
Add tuna to the pan with the potato mix. Mix for 2 minutes.
Place it in a bowl and let it cool off.
Mix the flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
Cut butter into small pieces and add to the flour mix. Mix until flour is crumbly (mixing with hands is more effective).
Add half cup of water and mix until the dough holds together. If dough does not hold together, add water little by little until it becomes a dough ball. Make sure the dough does not become sticky in texture. Usually too much water will make it sticky.
Cut dough into four dough balls.
On a cutting board flatten the dough balls using a rolling pin. Flatten it into a circle shape.
For each pie, add two tablespoons of Tuna Mix on one side of the pie.
Fold the pie and use a fork to seal the edge of the pie.
Place pies in a cookie sheet, and place in the oven on 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Tuna Pie will be slightly brown in color. Serve 4 people.
