Turbe Twist Review
The Turbie Twist is a microfiber hair towel that has been gaining in popularity lately. There have been numerous microfiber hair towels on the market (with Aquis being the most recognized microfiber towel) and they all work exceptionally well. What makes the Turbie Twist different is that has been specially designed as a hair towel.
What I mean by that is that it's not just a 19 x 39 rectangular piece of fabric. The towel itself looks like a hood at one end that tapers down to a corner (it reminds me of the funny looking Tour de France bicycle helmets). What's nice about this taper is that it makes wrapping the Turbie Twist around your head easier. It doesn't leave a bulk of towel to sit uncomfortably on your head, it conforms into a nice turban shape. The other nice design element is that there is a loop on the hooded end. While being incredibly simple, it makes so much sense. The loop functions as a place to tuck the end of the turban into, securing it in place. So if you like to put your hair up while you do other things (put your makeup on, get something to eat for you or the kids) the Turbie Twist will stay wrapped securely on your head. One additional benefit of the Turbie Twist is that it is much lighter than a traditional cotton towel. Besides being bulky, cotton is heavy and can weigh your head down. The microfiber material of the Turbie Twist is very light almost to the point that you won't even notice it on your head.
When it comes to drying your hair, the microfiber is the best material hands down. The unique property that microfiber has is that it is able to wick away water quickly and efficiently. Being a blend of polyester and nylon, the material can hold up to 5 times more water than a traditional towel. The Turbie Twist is a fairly small hair towel but can accommodate fairly long lengths of hair. Now there is a cut off in terms of what it will hold but if you're even a little beyond shoulder length you should have no problem wrapping your hair up into the Turbie Twist. And you can leave the turban on for 20 minutes and the towel will leave your hair damp and manageable. What I mean by that is that you could blow dry it for about five minutes to completely dry it, or if you prefer to use any hair products in it, the hair is still damp enough to accept product and be done up.
What's nice about the Turbie Twist is that it cuts down on the amount of blow drying you have to do. Blow drying your hair leaves it dried out and damaged, contributing to split ends and is just overall not a good thing to do to your hair. With the Turbie Twist you don't even have to blow dry it, just wrap, wait and go if you've got to.
Another great benefit about the Turbie Twist is that it's a cheap microfiber towel. Some brands of microfiber are very expensive and while it's true with microfiber you get what you pay for the Turbie Twist is a very economical solution.
