The installation of traverse rods mounted to the ceiling enable you to attach curtains to the hardware, allowing you to open and close the room divider. Hanging Room Divider Ideas

If you live in a small home, or in a studio apartment you can make your home appear spacious, and make better use of the space that you have by dividing up some of the larger rooms. An example is dividing up your kitchen so there is a cooking area and a dining area. There are a number of different room divider ideas. There are many reasons why someone may want to divide their room up, such as hiding mess created by the kids, or to manage the light availability.

There are numerous room divider ideas that you can use, here are some of them. However don’t limit yourself to the ones mentioned, you can be creative and add some ideas of your own.

A room divider can be flexible or improvised, or it can be permanent. The type that is used is dependent on the needs and requirements of the homeowner. A half height or a half width wall is what is considered as a permanent room divider. The division is created by the wall being positioned mid way across the room and half way up towards the roof. Room divider ideas such as these should only be used if you are not planning on changing the arrangement of the room anytime in the foreseeable future. If you are looking for extra storage space, you can mount shelves on the wall. You can use this type of division if you would like to incorporate a study into your bedroom. For instance you can have a bed on one side of the room and a study on the other side. You can then store your books and other study aids on the shelves.

Other room divider ideas include furniture such as cupboards and shelves; they can be used as improvised room dividers. Their use is similar to that of a low wall for the division of a room. Some large book shelves are sold specifically for this purpose.

More improvised room divider ideas include large plants. The best type to use includes bamboos, different crotons, palm trees and many others. If you have the cash to spare, you may want to purchase rare exotic plants which can give the division an extremely attractive look. Wooden frames that contain plants that have been potted are sold for this purpose in particular. You can also create your own frame pot if you are creative enough. You can hang some plant pots from the roof; if you place them correctly they can also be used as a division even though you will easily be able to see through to the other side.

Flexible room dividers

Some popular room divider ideas are screens and panels. The panels can be made from a range of different materials and you can easily move them by sliding or folding them. You can have them made to match the current decor in your room. Or you can have something unique such as paper or bamboo screens giving your room an Asian look.  If you want to create an attractive modern look fiber glass or bamboo sticks placed together work well. Because they are so flexible you can have a lot of control over the space that is created.

Depending on the type of budget that you have other good room divider ideas include wooden pseudo antique screens giving your room an ancient historic feel. Another good idea is to mount embroidered fabrics onto screens. You can embroid the fabric anyway that you wish so that it is a good match to the type of decoration that you have in your room. If you want to experiment with design you can, since they are not a permanent fix and can easily be taken down. Panels and screens also give you control over how much light filters through to each side of the division.
